oooh nasty!!!
I decided to have tilapia for dinner. that in it's self was great. great protein, etc etc..
HOWEVER.
I ate way too much. Let's just say that I started feeling like hell and about 5 mins later. .... gone. all of it gone. Fish is not pleasant coming back up.
note to self: the little piece you ate before surgery is not the same little piece you can eat now.
ugh. way to be reminded the hard way. I'm going to bed and try not to burp fish vomit all nite.
bummer.

WHAT?! Missy, you aren't supposed to be eating even pureed foods yet! Dr. Williams would freak out - you can damage your innards! You haven't healed enough inside to be eating soft foods yet. Better re-read the material Vandy gave you and if you have any questions or are unsure about what you can or cannot eat, give Jennifer a call.
My follow-up appointment was on Jan 6. At that time, I was progressed to pureed foods.
In reading the diet plan, Phase 3, pureed foods ... and I quote:
"pureed lean meats, pureed or mashed fish," and then it goes on to spell out all of the other meats and proteins I am allowed. (page 18, GY18:PP:GB diet)
The tilapia(uncoated, unbreaded... just a filet) was cooked in water in the oven with a bit of seasoning over it. very moist
I had pureed tuna salad yesterday and an egg yesterday and today. I have held them fine. I simply ate too much.
Really, I live in fear of Angus. I've done (or tried to do) everything she told me to do.

Welcome to the world of gastric bypass knowledge. Knowledge is a good thing! Our bodies have a way of reminding us what to eat and what not to eat!
The first time I went overboard on sugar free candy, my body sent up aromatic little smoke signals reminding me this was not a good thing. Th 2nd time I did it, my wife pounded me over the head and said, "Never again!"
I think your body said, "I don't need ne stinking fish right now">
Live and learn! Sorry it happened to you! Hang in there.
p.s. Melinda beats me to it everytime, but you have been added to my blogroll as well! Keep up the great job on your blog. It's a great tool to use!

Hey guys
I know I had the sleeve instead of the bypass but I too was allowed to start pureed just after leaving the hospital and today I am I month out and I start my solids/final phase of my nutrition plan.......apparently postop nutrition plans are getting away from the all liquids after surgery......just FYI......

Hmmm . . . They must have changed some things since I had my surgery 8 months ago. I just didn't want her to injure herself or mess up her new pouch. To tell ya the truth, I don't think I could have eaten anything even pureed before I was allowed to, which was 3 weeks. Even then, it was difficult. I can't imagine eating that soon after my surgery, but if that's what the Doc's say now then it must be OK. Of course, I still have to make myself eat. I just don't have much appetite and haven't had much desire to eat since having the surgery. And I'm not complaining one bit either!
Ewwww yeuch! I had a sleeve gastrectomy last January, and I tried some pureed salmon when I was in that stage. I was so sick of the stuff I'd been having in the full liquids stage, it seemed like all I could think of to eat/drink was sweet stuff. I was really craving something with an entirely different flavor.
Salmon, pureed, is NOT a good idea, either. I didn't throw it up, but I sure didn't have the whole amount I'd measured out! Still makes me shudder to think of it.
