the calcium of the gods....

Truth be told,  I am really struggling with all of the supplements and things not in pill form.   DH and I were at Rite Aid a few weeks ago and found this stuff

www.wellesse.com/products.aspx

(hopefully that shows up right.)

anyways, it is a liquid calcium.  It is citrus flavored.  I'm not really sure about how "citrus-y" it is but It is absolutely tolerable.  Each tablespoon is 500mg of calcium citrate and 200 IU Vit D.  I take 3 tbsp a day to get all of my requirements.

I just found it on vitacost.com for 4.89 for a 16 oz. bottle.  I.E. 32 tbsp per bottle.  not bad at all.

hope this helps.

Hi Missy,

It is normal so early on to try and get in all our protein and all our supplements, however sometimes it just may not be possible...

Don't beat yourself up if you can not get everything in.  Most of us could not for some time...

Make sure you run everything by your surgeon and nutritionist...  I am not familiar with wellesse but if it is approved by your surgeon and nutritionist then I am sure it will be fine......  However, it is imparitive that you run that by them before you let it pass your lips.....  They are there for you and would be happy to let you know.....  Was it on the approved list?.....

So happy to hear you are doing so well.......

yeah.... we took it to Jen Angus to show her and she said okay.

I am so glad you posted that.  As a pre-op, all you hear is "70 grams protein" and "get your water" and "get your pills in".  It all sounds so easy then.  Sooo then, you come home and struggle, struggle, struggle to even get past a 16 oz bottle of water.  It made me feel like I wasn't doing it right, ya know what I mean?

Each day gets better but you are totally right.  It is a struggle in the beginning.  And beating myself up about it doesn't do any good either.  :(

I love the calcium tablets which are chewable made by Bariatric Advantage.  They are tasty.  Plus, next time I might get them from Celebrate instead...  I like their iron tablets better than the Bariatric Advantage.  These are made for gastric bypass individuals...  and most surgeons recommend them.  The ones who do not, possibly promote their own products, or are not familiar with this brand.  Or, sometimes they recommend over the counter simply because they are easier for you to obtain (don't have to order online).  They want it to be easy but easier isn't always better.

There is Tropical Oasis calcium citrate, and I believe it is sold at Vitamin Shoppe, its a liquid calcium citrate.  It tastes orangy.  I took this for a long time, until making the change to the chewable tablets...  It wasn't "great" but it was do-able.

It is easier to take a chewable or a liquid over the pill types..
