Sue,
I used to take ESTROVEN  PM.  It has Valerian and black cohosh in it and seemed to work pretty well.

I use melatonin.   I take 30 mg at bedtime.   It doesn't knock you out, like some sleep meds.   It's a natural product of your body that decreases at my age (probably not at your age, but you might have messed up circadian rhythms b/c of your pain medicines).   It just helps you drift off to sleep when you want to.

I think it works for about 4 hours, so if you hae problems waking up in the night, it might not be the greatest.   I wonder if they have a time release melatonin?

Sue there is nothing worse then not being able to sleep I can identify with that. I've tried Melotinin as well as Benadryl and have had good luck, but if you still have some pain you might try Tylenol PM. Sleep Tight! C'ya Bob

My PCP recommended that I use Benadryl if I need something to help me sleep. I haven't had to use it yet though.
