Good morning ladies & gents!

Well, it's the first full week of the New Year and our challenge is well under way.  If you have not signed up for the New Year Challenge, it's not to late.  Just let me know your starting weight and how much weight you would like to lose by Jan. 31, 2009!  It's that easy.

Several of us are at the "Maintain, Don't Gain" stage of life and that's alright as well.  So, jump in and grab hold cause we are moving to lose in '09!

For this challenge we have 13 people signed up, and we are gonna lose at least 101.9 pounds this month.

So for this weeks motivation, I am borrowing an article from Cathy Wilson @
Lose Weight Find Life.  This is one of the best blogs that I have found.  Cathy is a Certified Life Coach specializing in weight loss.  She is also an RNY patient herself.  So head over to her blog for daily motivation.  This week we are gonna focus on "Food Diaries".

"Keeping a Food Diary"

Have a good day!

Thanx Scott!  I have been remiss in keeping a food diary over the holidays.  But, no more--I'm back on it as of NOW!  I saw at WalMart the other day that there is one for the Nintendo DS.  Ron has a DS, so I may get that one.  I love Fitday.com but don't always have access to it.

I am jumpin' in...

Update: I am 16 months post-op as of yesterday. I have lost a total of 113 pounds, and have gone from size 22/24 to size 6/8. I have been maintaining for a few months now, and "somehow" (What?!)  (let me rephrase that: by the GRACE of GOD) even managed to maintain during Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years.

But I don't like being so close to the edge between "normal/healthy BMI" and "slightly overweight". My protein intake has stayed high, but I know my water is down - and I need to resurrect a strong workout schedule. I also need to get back on this board! I have missed you all TONS!!!  That said, this week I'm going back on liquids - protein, water, etc. - with maybe one high protein meal/day. I will do that for 3-4 days only - just to get my mind back on track! My other goal is to get my body back on THE track! I will meet w/ a personal trainer at the Y and hope to be on a true, consistent, workout program by the end of the month. I do hope that this all lends itself to about a 5 pound loss.

How funny is that--food diary week?!?

I just printed out pages I designed in Excel to put into my Franklin Planner so I can start writing down what I'm eating.  What great timing and good reason to reinforce my reasons for doing it!

I have read on the boards that a lot of people eat sliced turkey (like from the deli) and cheese, once cleared by their Dr. and Nut, to get protein.  So I started doing that this weekend.  The low sodium Boar's Head turkey breast is FANTASTIC!  I chopped that up and put some on a salad at lunch today.  YUM.

Looking forward to heading home, though.  I'm getting rather hungry and don't want to start wandering around anywhere near vending machines!  Run away!  Run away!

Or rather, run to my mini fridge and have another glass of Crystal Light.  Yeah, that'll work.

Thanks for the link to Cathy Wilson's blog--off to go visit her site!

Thanks Scott,  This is wonderful motivation.   I really should use my diary better than I do, that will be one of my new goals this week.
Also, I have started an updated version of the IDGOMB postings today.....similar to the dairy concept.     Start what activities you did today, and state what your plan is for tomorrow,,,,,,,,even if it changes it is something to refer to and hold yourself accountable.    I know that is what it takes for me everyday.....say it, do it.

Have a great week,
Sherry

Scott,

Sign me up for the January challenge.  I'm going to go out on a limb and say I will loose 10 lbs. this month.  Startiing weight 190 lbs.  Will see Dr. McDowell on Friday for my six month check up and will see what their scales show.

Won't be at the support meeting tomorrow night as their was another death in Jim's family (we buried his aunt on Christmas Eve) and the funeral is tomorrow.  His sister and her husband got in around 6:00 pm tonight and will be here until Friday.

Won't make the lunch bunch either as I have more company coming in on Friday.  Thankfully this is a fun weekend that was put on the books shortly after Jim died.
