Medication Change?

Only 5 days til my RNY and I am doing good on my liquid diet but having another problem.

My surgeon had me stop celebrex for my osteoarthritis and I didn't think it would make much difference but the joint pain is really uncomfortable.  Mainly, I have a problem getting to sleep because that is, of course, the time when I notice it the most.

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

For the time being try Tylenol PM.  That is all I could take or tolerate for along time after surgery for the pain at night.  Good luck on Tuesday.  YOu will be in our thoughts and prayers.  Please have Bleu post when you are out of surgery and everything is o.k.   Have been thinking of you often, and hope all is well with you and Bleu.  See you in the spring, ( I hope!!!)

Thanks Beth

I knew you guys would come up with advice for me.

Bleu is not very computer literate and I think Marilyn is going to be out of town but my daughter, Shanna will be at the hospital and can let you know how I am.

Hard to believe the time is really here.  I'm feeling pretty good about the whole lifechanging experience I am facing next week but think I have my head on right!  It may sound silly but I have been giving myself positive messages for the last week or so and am beginning to believe this is going to work for me.  I want to feel and (face it) look better, even at 60 years old.  I feel so God-blessed to have my wonderful husband and just like he did when I was attending college with 3 children, he will help me stay on the straight and narrow and fulfill my dream.

Sorry, didn't mean to ramble but I am feeling so blessed right now, I had to share.

You are not rambling and you are very blessed!  I was taking an overdose of Tylenol PM (didn't know it was an overdose amount until recently - no problems - I just didn't absorb it all) and that was the only way i could get to sleep too.  Arthritus is a b**ch!  I will PM you Scott's work number so your daughter can call him and he will post and keep us all up to date.

I agree with Scott & Beth.  I like the liquid tylenols.  I don't use the tylenol pm, but use the tylenol rapid blast.  I will put it this way.  I would rather take it as a pain reliever than the two prescription liquid pain meds that I was given, no make that 3, during a kidney stone, my gallbladder & plastic surgery....  they do not make me feel funny or weird.  They do the trick, and also help me sleep.  Plus they are safer.

Nancy,
One of the hardest things for me to give up was my Mobic.  The osteoarthritis pain has been a real problem at times.  I had my knee injected with steroids just a couple of weeks after surgery and had it done again in September and am about to get it done again.  I also found out that there is a NSAID patch.  I used it briefly prior to my shoulder surgery.  It doesn't effect the H2 pumps in our stomach, so no ulcer risk.  You might ask your surgeon about it if the pain can't be controlled otherwise.  Sorry, but I cannot remember the name. Tylenol didn't even begin to touch it for me.

Sorry I am going to be in Clarksville on the 6th for my annual eval with my surgeon.  I will try to check on you though.  Would you PM me with Bleu's mobile number and your address?  You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks all,

I will think of you all Tuesday and keep your positive reinforcement with me.

I will try the liquid Tylenol.  Have only bought it before for the children and grandchildren.
