I Found It At Wal-Mart........Why Don't Someone Tell Me These Things?! LOL

Me and my cousin stopped in Wal-Mart this morning and I was just a shufflin' around or better yet, I was sashaying, (as my PCP's nurse calls it), around looking for and loading up on some items I wanted, Tropical SF popsicles and things of the like. I wanted some tea or some coffee just couldn't decide. Well, I finally made up my mind to go back to the isle to get me some tea and there suddenly I had a quick change of mind. I stopped and had this strange urge to look above my head on the shelf and there it was...........no, not electric sex, but Davinci SF syrup, in two sizes but in very few  flavors, yes the flavors are limited but I found smaller bottles so I can try them before I even buy larger bottles. I opted for the caramel it was $3.66 and the bigger bottles were $5.00 and some change. I also changed my mind about getting some tea, I got me some coffee, came home and had me a cup of hot caramel flavored coffee. It was so good and I was so delighted. I will probably go back grocery shopping there, I want to taste the vanilla but the last small bottle they had was at the very back of the shelf, wouldn't mind trying the hazelnut either.

I just have one question, Why didn't somebody tell me this thing?! I feel like Daffy Duck looks right now. PLEASE DON'T EVEN ASK........LOL

I hope everyone has a very Happy New Year!

Diane, if you live close to a World Market, they sell the Torani brand of syrups.  They do carry a much larger selection than Wally World.  My favorite from this year is SF Gingerbread!  Yum in a cup of coffee!

thumbs up

Oh Scott, don't tell me that I'll find the nearest World Market and GET there. I've been looking at the Torani wondering about them as well. Mmmm, Gingerbread, that sounds delicious.

I hope that pre-ops and those thinking about this surgery read this post, it let's them know that all is not lost with this new lifestyle, to me things are better. The SF flavors and possibilities are just endless and I love it.

This pre-op read your email and am excited to look into these new things!

I took Scott's advice and went to World Market today.  The one in west Nashville didn't have SF Gingerbread, but they did have a lot of different flavors.  I bought chocolate, peach and coconut (all SF). They list for $5.99 but were 30% off.  Yipeee!

I think Mel mentioned you can also get them at TJ Maxx.  Not sure if there's one in Shelbyville or not, but I got caramel, raspberry, white chocolate and amaretto SF syrups at the Bellevue store.  They carry the DaVinci version.

I desperately want cinnamon, but haven't yet been able to find it.  I love cinnamon in my coffee and I bet a splash of the syrup would rock.

Eggface has tons of recipes on her website (theworldaccordingtoeggface.com), and I'm going to start experimenting with her "protein ice cream," tonight.  I'm really sensitive to textures, so I have the odd feeling that protein powders are gonna make me gag! : )  Even the SF carnation instant b'fast is a bit grainy for me.

You're right though . . . things can be better in many ways (eating included) after surgery if you're just open to the ideas!

If anyone sees SF cinnamon anywhere, lemme know!!

Thanks!
Denise

Is that the World Market that's on Nolensville road in South Nashville?   Or is there a World Market chain?    I get flyers for some kind of World Market, but I can't tell if they are the same thing.

It's a chain store and it's kind of like Pier One with food.  I know there's one in west Nashville and I think there's one up in the Rivergate area.  It is the chain you're getting the flyers for.

As for the other uses, I've heard of people mixing SF syrups in unflavored or greek yogurt.  I may spike my Crystal Light Peach Tea with the peach flavor.  You can add it to recipes, like the protein ice cream, to protein powder drinks or spike carnation instant b'fast.  Plus the whole coffee thing.  I use a Folger's chocolate coffee, but they don't make it in decaf.  So I'm hoping using decaf with regular coffee will make it taste similar.  We'll see!

I'll keep ya posted if I find some cool recipes!

Would those syrups be any good for anything besides coffee?    I've heard about them for a while, but I don't know if I'd know what to do with them.

I LOVE the Davinchi and Torani syrups!  I also love the Starbucks brand syrups.  And, you all know, I am ADDICTED to Starbucks. I get them everywhere-TJ Maxx, World Market, Ross Dress for Less, Sam's Wholesale.  Most of the places carry a limited supply with Sam's having the most.  I order them from www.netrition.com most of the time.  I like netrition because they have $4.95 shipping per order no matter how much you order.  So, I save up what I want, and order a ton of stuff at the same time.  Their prices are already better that bariatriceating.com, but with the really cheap shipping, they beat everyone else on the net.  As to the question,  what to do with them beside coffee?  I am making a sweet potato casserole today using the sugar free caramel.  I make sauces using the praline and the white chocolate.  I use the fruit flavors in protein smoothies, and I add them to recipes all the time!
