post-op update and goal hit!!!
Hi all!! Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!! Mine was good. Just wanted to let everyone know how things are going. Went to the dr on the 19th for my follow up after my surgery. Everything is doing OK. I can't lift anything very heavy or do any bending or twisting for a while longer. Dr McDowell said the pathology report said there was no sign of diverticulitis in the piece of colon he removed. He says it must have healed really well from the earlier attack and he's certain we made the right choice to remove it. It has surely helped with my constipation problems, also!! I will get to go back to work on Jan. 19th.
I also have great news. I'm at goal!! When I went on the 19th Laura(nutritionist) and Dr. McDowell both told me that I didn't need to lose anymore weight. I actually lost 10lbs from the day of my surgery to the 19th.
My original goal was to get to 150 but the dr told me to try for 140. We decided to split the difference and go for 145. That's what I was on the 19th but today I was at 143. Can't tell my husband because he doesn't want me to lose any more weight. I'm still technically "overweight" for my height(5'3") but I guess I'll just have to live with that!
I'm currently wearing about a size 8 pants and a small or medium top. I did buy an outfit to wear for Christmas and the pants and shirt were both a small!!
My 1 year surgiversary is Jan 14th. I really didn't think I would be at goal by then but I made it!! This has been the best year of my life. I've gotten off all my meds except the water pill, my knees don't hurt, I have more energy and I'm loving my life so much more. I wish I had had this surgery a long time ago!! I saw some family on Christmas Day that hadn't seen me since last Christmas and they didn't know who I was!! I love that!! It just tickles me to death to see the looks on peoples faces when they realize who I am or when I tell them.
Sorry for rambling on. Just wanted to share all of this with the people that have helped me through what has been a tough year but also a great year.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I LOVE MY RNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
