My best Christmas gift

My neice was in a horrible accident on Monday.   But she's okay.   That's the part that's the huge gift.   She'll have to have some "minor" surgery  (MY definition of minor surgery is something that happens to somebody I've never heard of, so this doesn't fit that definition) to remove some glass from her face.

This picture shows why I think her good condition is such a good gift.

She didn't see it coming at all.   She'd stopped at a light, and it had changed to green and several cars had gone before her.   The truck driver said he was trying to stop, I have no idea.

When she got scared (and so did my sister!!) was when she was at the hospital and they weren't able to remove all the glass from her face, and when the police officer came to talk to her and kept going on about what WOULD have happened, if the semi had been loaded (it's a flat-bed trailer truck for hauling big hunks of metal and stuff like that).

We are very blessed.   She's a beautiful young lady, and the ONLY person in my entire family who is following me into nursing.

Bless her heart, when dad had glass in his, they said that some had to work it's way out on it's own.. Mom would help him, then of course dr. it afterwards to keep infection down. Of course that was also back in the 60's. Why does that seem like forever now. I guess I've gotten older and it was. LOL. But thank the lord they are both alright!!! . Barb

You know, my father was in an accident where he got glass in his face, too.    Back in the 70s.   They took out what they could and mostly worried about his eyes, and said the rest would work itself out, too.   I don't know why they're not doing that with my neice.   I'll have to ask.

It does seem like forever ago now, doesn't it, the 60s and 70s.   Lots and lots and lots of history between then and now!

36+    That's pretty good.   And you look Good for 36+

I wasn't thinking - for a LONG time, I just stayed 29.   My daughter got to be too old for me to be 29, so I just told people that she was my husband's daughter from his first marriage.   Which is perfectly true.

After a while  - many years.   It was over 10 because all my younger brothers and sisters forgot to stop and got to be older than I was.   So anyway, after a while, I realized I didn't look so good for 29!   So now I lie the other direction.   I'm 55, and I guess I pretty much look 55.   But if I say I'm 63, then I look "good" for that age!

Thanks for your prayers.   It really is very sobering (for want of a better word) when something like this happens and you realize how anybody's life could be changed at any moment.
