...As a wine that you can have after Gastric Bypass that is low in sugar? I do know that most wines get their flavor from the sweet stuff.

Thoughts?

You may want to check with your NUT. or Surgeon, and see what they suggest. I do know that a dry wine has less sugar and a wet one are the ones that have the most sugar in them.  As it is in any alcohol product. But please , always check with them first. Merry Christmas Comments For Hi5

Hey John... I remember Paula telling me one time at a support group that It is best to leave out alcohol for a year, and that is only after the Dr has allowed it in again.

It's not necessarily the sweet that is bad for you in wine.   It's the alcohol.   The way alcohol is metabolised isn't like anything else.   It hits the system like a huge load of sugar.   It increases blood sugar and it also decreases it, especially in diabetics.

If you're losing a lot of weight, your liver is doing a lot of work, and drinking wine with alcohol is very hard on it.    I'm not losing weight very quickly, but I'm having sparkling grapejuice for toasts.   And not much of that, because I can't afford the calories and carbs in fruit juice.

Best wishes

Dennie
