Hello Again
Hi - I came here for a brief time a couple of years ago, and then kind of lost touch. I thought I'd stop back in and stay for a visit. I see a few familiar faces.
I've been working on getting my WLS for several years now. My insurance (Cigna) approved the DS that I wanted but the surgeon here in town didn't consider me a good candidate for the whole thing in one step. So I had the vertical sleeve gastrectomy 29 January 08. I sailed through the surgery and the recovery, but I haven't had the best success with the weight loss. So this summer, I started the process to try to have the second half done. The insurance rejected paying for it, on the grounds that I'd lost enough weight with the sleeve to not be eligible for the surgery any more. So six months slip by, fighting with the insurance company. With the help of Obesity Law, Cigna approved my surgery on second appeal.
So I've got an appointment with Dr. Spaw on 7 January to talk about the surgery and then we'll schedule it. I hope it's soon! My older daughter is expecting a little girl in March and I want to be all recovered from surgery and feeling the energy from having lost a lot of weight by then!
So there you have it. I hope everybody here will have a wonderful holiday time and that 2009 will find us all healthier, happier and drama-free.

Thank you! It's nice to see another Dr. Spaw DSer. Do you go to the support meetings? How far is Allgood from Nashville? I don't see well enough to drive, so I haven't been going to much of anything, but I think I'll probably need it once I finally get switched.
I looked at your profile an I'm so jealous! Puppies AND grandbabies! You have wonderful pictures and you look like you're doing great!

Hello Dennie, I know that all will go well for ya. Sending prayers as we speak. You gonna be fine. Stick to your guns and strive hard to do what you have to do. As I usually tell folk , grab the bull by the horns and hold on for dear life. There maybe a bumpy ride, but your journey has just begun.
