I had my surgery yest.....never want to do that again. Im in SO much pain from the gas they pumped me up with that I cant hardly stand it. The loratabs arent helping either. The actualy sugery its self was ok i guess, its just this GAS pain thats about to do me in. I had a hard time waking up, as usual and it took three tries beofre they could actauly let me go home because my stats kept falling everytime they took me off the oxygen. But im home now, kids are with my parents so that helps a lot. I just hope I feel better soon, christmas is next weeka nd I have SO much to do! Kids gotta go see santa, church xmas program is sunday....still have some shopping to do too! I have to get over this SOON! ANyhow, thats my little update....I also got my EGD ( or EDG whatever its called) out of the way for my WLS in spring. That left my throat REALLY sore....i think they scraped my tonsils with it or something.....ugh...

And another thing....so far anything Ive eaten has gone right thru me....is this normal?

oh, I feel your pain!  I had mine out last October.   and yes, everything I ate went STRAIGHT through me.  I think I even had a problem with bread the first couple of days.

Immodium was my friend.  Now the gall bladder (or lack thereof) is my friend.  It always reminds me when I eat something I shouldn't.

Hope you feel better soon!

I found out this info the hard way... not by my doc...but by a lady I met at one of Tim's baseball games... last year I had my gallbladder out.  I had 40 to 50 gallstones, they lost count.  Anyway, it was emergency gallbladder removal.  I got sick forever on everything!  Here is what you should stay clear of:

caffeine

anything with seeds (yes even broccolli, cauliflower, strawberries, jalapenos)

Chocolate

Coffee (caffeine) and cokes

Nuts of any kind, and peanut butter

But I will tell you one thing...  if you ever get constipated, just eat one of the above!  Coffee has me regular every day.  And jalapenos...  well they really are a great dose of natural laxatives!

It effected me for about 3 months...  I did not want to eat anything.  Every thing made me sick.

I had my gallbladder out in 91 and I still can't eat salad and be that far from home.  I can say that I never had the constipation probs that a lot of WLS patients suffer after surgery.  Regular as clockwork.  Think things don't go right through me anymore because I am eating the right types of things.  Not all fried/greasy foods.

Thanks Darlene!  I knew that I knew something was missing from my list...

Salads

Greasy fried foods

I missed the salads for a long time... I can eat them now, but not the greasy foods. They will REALLY reap havoc on my body... makes my stomach hurt, gives diarrhea with a vengeance....

Well one of the biggest problems I was having with the stones was teh fact that nearly everything I ate came out the other end with in 30 min to and hour after eating....and no it seems Im STILL going to have that problem....and Im not happy about that. I LOVE salad and veggies.....I can do w/out fried foods....but I love my veggies lol. I guess it will just be trial and error for a while. Guess this is good preperation for my WLS huh lol?

Yep, that sounds right. Even my surgeon *****moved my gallbladder called it the "gallbladder foxtrot". LOL

He said it would last about a year. Mine lasted until I had WLS. Now, like Mel said, my morning cup of coffee keeps things moving.

Im still having a rough time of it, and its getting OLD really fast. My chest aches, and Im short of breath over the least little thing...washing dishes for 3 minutes left me completely winded...walking to the next room does too. I talked to a friend of mine whos and RN and she said they should have given me that breathing thing after surgery to clear my lungs out but they didnt. They didnt have me up and walking for 7 hrs either after surgery. I noticed I had quite a bit of "gunk" in my chest that I couldtn cough up that night and the next day because my throat was so sore. So she thinks I have pneumonia and should go to the walk in clinic tomorrow. I feel terrible and im getting depressed...I cant do anything to get ready for christmas!

I think your friend might be correct.... thats not good to have your chest hurting and hard to breathe....  and the fact that they did not give you breathing thingamajig or walk you soon... I would go to the clinic like she suggested
