Approved, approved, approved, approved!!!! BCBS may have dragged their asses about it, but after I spent most of two days on the phone with them (more on those adventures later), they came through.

So, I'll be having the DS with Dr. John Husted seven days from today at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY.

I've placed an order with Vitalady, I've ordered Poo-Pourri, I need to get vitamins. I got my mom's plane ticket...

Oh...What vitamins are easiest for a new DSer to take? Would a liquid solution be best?

I'M APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!

God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny.

You might want to see what vitamins your doc recommends.  I was told about mine at a pre-op teaching one week before surgery.  If you can't tolerate them ask for another recommendation.  Or ask them if there is a minimum requirement like 600 mg of calcium and if it's OK to find your own.  All vitamins are not created equally and you really don't want to get messed up with taking inferior ones.

Best wishes for a smooth surgery and a complication free recovery.

Congrats!!! It's my understanding that DS patients have a harder time absorbing? I could be wrong but liquid gives you the best absorption, chewables next. Best to ask your WLS Team. C'ya Bob

Congratz on your new journey SaraH!!! Hats off to ya!!! That is wonderful news!!!! Counldn't be a better Christmas gift, the gift of a new life. Like Bob L said my understanding is that the  chewable vits. are able to asborbed better in your system then the liquid. You may also contact your Nutritionist, she/he might be able to hlep ya. Each surgeon is different, it is really up to the preference of the Surgeon. Hugs
