Hello Everyone,

I'm new to the site and I had my surgery on November 11,2008. I lost 14 pounds in a week, but now it seems as if i'm not losing anymore :(  Am I doing something wrong or is that normal? I am eating  what I'm supposed to (still pureed) and walking like I'm supposed to. I'm really freaking out and I need advice!

You are at the stage when your body is yelling "What in the He!! have you done to us" .  It is very normal because your body is adjusting to your new calorie intake and it is hanging on for dear life to every calorie you are taking in.  This is very normal and part of the process.  Hang it there.

Darlene is right.  Stay away from the scale.  I know that some people weigh everyday...but that just didn't and doesn't work for me.  I had to only weigh once a week.  I got scared after the first week.  I thought "oh hell I have paid all this money, gone to Mexico and now it isn't going to work?"  And although all my friends and family were supportive everytime they asked how much have you lost I kept thinking " I am not losing fast enough...they are all going to think I am a failure."   My surgery was 8/29 and I am now 107 down so obviously it worked. LOL.  There will be stalls and not matter how fast we lose it never seems like fast enough until it all of a sudden adds up one day.  When people first started noticing I thought they were just being nice.  I mean I could feel the difference in my knees and joints but I didn't notice the difference till one day when my pants literally almost fell off at work.  To me it seemed like over night my clothes got bigger.  The losing will come....just be patient and don't get discouraged.
Come join us on the loser's bench...there is always room for more!!!!!!!!

You must remember that it did not take overnight to become morbidly obese....

And it will take longer than overnight to lose it...

Remain calm.  Very soon you will reap the rewards.  We've all been where you are right now.  Just keep on doing what you know to do....

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! I had that similar thought...." I spent all this time and money, now it's not going to work"......I will try to be more patient with the process. Everyone sees a change already, I didn't until a couple of weeks ago when I looked in the mirror and saw the face I had when I was in high school! It shocked me! Anyway, thanks again.
