Went to my doctor today
Thanks Sonya, it was a big surprise and a very emotional one at that when I first found out. But I figure the way people drive in Nashville during rush hour will kill me quicker then the leukemia will. You will have a better chance with Blue Care, but you will still have to do a 6 month Dr. supervised diet and monthly weigh in to be approved. During that time, be gathering all your medical records from all your Dr.'s, if you have co-morbilities, like sleep apnea, acid reflux, get those tests done and letter's from your Dr.'s that the surgery is "medically necessary" to improve your health. Letter's must state Medically Necessary. You will need a referral letter from your PCP as this Dr. will be the main one attending you after your surgery, so they have to be willing to approve of you having this surgery. So many PCP's won't write the referral letters, and then you have to find another PCP. It's a process to go thru, so now is the time to get it all started. Be sure to keep a daily log of what you ate, calories, etc, and an excersise log as well. The surgeon will want this to send to your insurance company. I know you will make it, it's not going to be tomorrow or next month but it will happen.
May God travel with you on this new journey.

I am sure wls will help me. My pcp is behind me 100% and trying to help me anyway he can. I will start writing down what I eat and ask my pcp to put me on a special diet.
