WOW, the countdown has begun!  Did you Doc or Nut give you any guidelines concerning the 15 day diet?  When I first read the title of your post, all I could think of was , "If I had to eat liver for 15 days, I would surely loose weight".  Mainly cause I can't stand liver!

My Doc put me on a liquid diet for 14 days.  We could have anything liquid during those days, and only clear liquids the day before surgery.  Give your Doc a call and see what they suggest.  Every Doc is different!

I've been on my pre-op diet since 11/28, (I only had to start by 12/1) but with the holidays figured I should start early.

My doctor, his nurse, and the nutritionlist  all went over the specifics of my diet, and it really isn't that hard..   It is 6 packets of Sugar Free Carnation Instant Breakfast with fat free milk, 2 cups of broth, and atleast 6 cups of water per day, as well as making sure to exercise each day.    Not sure if that is what you are suppose to be doing?

Since the 28th I'm down 8lbs!

Good luck with your pre-op diet, the first couple of days were the hardest, then my body got used to liquids.

Cortney -

I started my liquid diet today!   (RNY 12/17/08 with Dr. Dyer at Centennial in Nashville.) I don't get to the Nutritionist until next Monday but the doctor's office did give me a diet to follow whi*****luded EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control 2 times per day, then all the broth, tea, and sugar-free drinks I want as well as carb-controlled yougurt and cottage cheese.  Popsicyles and sugar-free fudge pops are OK, too.

So far - very easy to follow!  I made broth from the turkey we had for Thanksgiving and froze it in 8oz servings so I could track fluid intake when I get home.  I also went ahead and froze the white meat in 3oz. servings to have when I get to the blended stage!

Hope everything goes well for you!  See you on the losers' bench in a couple of weeks!

My doc put the fear of God in me about the preop.  I was so afraid of having the surgery OPEN vs. laproscopic.  And he explained the complications possible if my liver didn't shrink.  So i was strict.  SF popsicles  esp the lifesaver ones were my saviors.  SF jello...although I don't mind kroger brand on somethings the actual jello brand is much more flavorful.  The sf carnation instant breakfast was good.  Genisoy has a protein powder that is good.  It dissolves well in milk and almost tastes like nesquick.  It is still something I use for my protein. It is 15 grams of protein.  Stick to the diet...I lost 19 pounds on mine.  Dr. Joya was thrilled with my liver shrinkage.

All the best and we can't wait for you to join us on the bench......
Come join us on the loser's bench...there is always room for more!!!!!!!!
