Is there any way to make boullion better???

I don't want to sound like a whinner, but that is what I've been doing a LOT the last few days as I started on the pre-op diet, the Sugar Free Instant Breakfast is fine, the amount of water is fine, but the two cups of boullion is just GROSS!!   I've now tried several different brands of both chicken and beef, and well, I might get one or two sips down and that is it.

Does anyone have any suggestions, please??     It isn't that I'm hungry and want the boullion, but it is on the pre-op diet, and post-op diet, and if it is a necessary item, then I need help, please!

Thank you for listening to my whinning and plea for suggestions!!

Hi Amy!

Does it say Buliion or broth?  If it is broth, the Kroger brand is not bad.  Buillion is just to salty for me.  Just a suggestion and a thought. And will you be at out Christmas party on the 12th?  We'd love to meet you.   There will be other new post-op's as well.

I agree beef broth and chicken broth and vegtable broth are all good but if you are eating/drinking bullion wow that has to be hard you can also buy soup and strain it through a collindar get all the noodles/vegtables/meat out of it.

Also tomato soup is good too

Amy I could be wrong but my paper suggested the bullion or broth to combat headaches but wasn't required as part of their protocol. I wouldn't worry about drinking it. C'ya Bob

It was not part of your post op liquid diet? It was huge on my list. but not bullion broth is made form meat stock so it is a form of protein. Helps prepare your pouch for food.

Ok, so I was wrong, (no big shock there, I'm wrong often) it is broth I'm trying to drink.  I checked the boxes, & cans.

Thank you all for all your support and suggestions!!!   You all seem so far ahead of me, and me just a "newbie"  but you make me feel so comfortable in asking questions and that helps so much to know that even though I have a great support system here at home, they can't answer my questions like ya'll can!  Thank you!!!!!!!

December 12th I will be 3 days out of surgery, but I'm hoping to make it!!!!!

HUGS and BIG THANKS to you all!!!!!

I did what you did when I first started.  I bought a virtual buffet of broth.  Veg, chicken, beef, mushroom.....in boxes, in cans, concentrate powder ---you name it I bought it.  However it either was nasty like in Mushroom or no flavor as in the others.  So I bought cheap store brand soup in a can and then strained out the solids--adding that broth to my plain stuff.  added a ton of flavor.  I lost 19 pounds on my pre-0p diet.  Sugar free popciscles were and are my friend.  Publix has a lifesaver one that is great.  Very tart and flavorful and it counts towards water...woohooooo.

Good Luck...I had my surgery 8/29 and my only regret is not doing years ago.  We can't wait for you to join us on the bench...there is always room for one more.

Love lifesaver SF Popsicles and Blue Bell. Can't find either in Clarksville so I drive to Pleasantview or pick them up while I'm traveling.

Wyler makes boullion in Chicken with Herbs & Spices, and Beef with Garlic & Onion. I still love these 2 flavors when I'm wanting something hot and soothing but don't want coffee or tea.

You will find these in cube form right next to the other boullion cubes & granules.

what about ordering egg drop or wonton soup from your local chinese and straining out the egg or wonton?
