Surgery date scheduled

Just got back from the drs office.  My surgery is scheduled for next thursday, Dec. 4th.  I was so wanting to go to the Baptist Christmas party but I won't make it.  Dr. McDowell said that I would be in the hospital 2-4 days, depending on how well I do with eating, meds and bowel movements (sorry, tmi!).  I asked why he had to do it open rather than laparoscopically.  He said it's because of the abcess that I had.  He didn't want to take a chance trying to get it out through a small hole because of it being weakened it that area.  He also said it's easier for him to do what he has to do and it will take less time.

Well, I just wanted to let everyone know what's going on.  I hope everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving.  I will.  Hubby and I are driving to Pigeon Forge on Saturday and staying the night.  He wants to move there so bad.  He'd go today if we could!!

Hey Melissa, glad you decided to go ahead and get things taken care of. You know that you are in great hands with Dr. McDowell and Baptist. We hate that you will miss all the partying, you are doing what you need to do. Phil will still be in the hospital that day too. I will try to check up on you while we are there. Ya'll have a safe trip to the mountains. We are going the 17th & 18th of next month. Please have someone post and let us know how you are doing.

Good luck on your surgery.   I'm sorry we won't get to meet at the Christmas party but maybe we can plan another get-together here in the Pigeon Forge area like the one Marilyn had in September.
It is a beautiful area and there are a LOT of homes (cabins) for sale here now.  Oh wait, there are a lot of homes for sale everywhere!!  Sorry, couldn't resist.

Tomorrow is a day we set aside for Thanksgiving!  I'm Thankful that they caught this in time, and are able to take care of it!
