Hi, Everyone!

I have been an OH member since July but just found this forum today!  It is great to read about people here in Tennessee.

I am scheduled for RNY on 12/17/08 with Dr. Dyer at Centennial in Nashville.  I am to be at the hospital at 7:00 that morning. We live in Cookeville so we are planning to leave home around 5:00.  Anyone else going to Centennial that day?  I would enjoy having a "surgery buddy"!

Dr. Dyer is also going to repair a hernia during my surgery.  Has anyone else had both surgeries the same day?  The doctor thought he might be able to do the repair laproscopicly, also.  If not he said the incision would be very small.

If anyone else has had Dr. Dyer as their surgeon?  Would appreciate feedback.

HI Cheryl,
I had Dr. Dyer as a surgeon.  He did my lap band almost a year ago.  I just think the world of him as a surgeon.  I know that you will too.  He also did a hernia repair on my cousin when she had her lap band.  He was able to do hers laparascopic too.  She healed great.  Just be prepared to be sore afterwards though.  You have to be real careful and not lift anything heavy or you'll bust all that loose that was just repaired.  Good luck to you on the 17th.

Hugs,
Tammy P

Maybe I'll see you at the Cookeville support group at CRMC.  I'm usually at work when it meets, but might be able to rearrange my hours.  If not, I think there are enough people to form a lunch bunch like someof the other areas have done.

Sorry, I had a  Duodenal Switch by Dr. Houston so I'm pretty worthless for your questions.  However, I am a big believer in sharing and the TN board has been an inspiration for me because we can connect and help each other no matter where we had our surgery or who did it.

Welcome to the Tennessee Boards Cheryl!

We are a very friendly bunch who are not afraid to answer any question!  So jump right in and ask anything you can think of.  On the same token, if you know the answer to any question, feel free to answer!

I had Dr Dyer as my surgeon, my wife (rjsmom) did also!  A very fine Dr. indeed!  He is very caring, compassionate, and easy to talk to.  If you had waited one more day, it would be my 1 year surgerversary!  Dec 17 is a good day also!

Once again...WELCOME!

Hey, Amy!

I hope your surgery goes well, also!  Are you having RNY?  Maybe we will see one another while in the hospital.  I go for pre-ops and the pre-surgery class on December 8th.  When do you go?

Good luck!  See you on the loser's bench!
