Hello I am new and I wanted to introduce myself

My name is Sonya and I am hoping to have surgery for my severe obesity. I am 36 years old and I weigh 271 and I am 5ft 4in. My doctor thinks I would do good having Lap Band or any weight loss surgery. I hope so but I am Hypothyroid I actually dont have a thyroid but he (my doctor) still seems to think I will do good. I am so proud there is a group such as this to help me down this long road I am about to travel. Thank you

Good to have you with us.  Feel free to explore the other forums, too.  I like this one for the posibilty of meeting folks face to face at meal meetings.   I have a feeling there are some great huggers across TN and I look forward to hugging them.  I also go to my specific procedure forum for issues unique to my proceure.  I visit with other Oldies but Goodies on the Over 50 forum.  It's  been a very positive experience since I work when my local support group meets.

Welcome to the group.  Come here any time and ask questions or just lurk.  There's always someone here that will help you or answer any questions that you might have.  I had the lapband with Dr. Dyer at Centennial and would reccomend him to anyone.  I know that we all think our drs are the best one out there.  I know I do...lol  Good luck with everything and keep us posted.

Thank you, it is so nice to know I am not alone I am almost sure that my doctor is setting my appointment up at Centennial. So hopefully it will all work out I will get Dr. Dyer. Thanks so much for the welcome..

Be sure and tell Dr. Dyer Tammy P. said "Hi".  I also forgot to mention that I also have hypothyroidism and I'm doing great with the Lap Band.  I love my band.  Tell your dh you'll do great too.

Just wanted to say hi and welcome.  Also glad to see another West TN person here.  I live in Pinson (between Jackson & Henderson).  I have hypothyroidism as well and you will indeed loose weight  if you follow the plan.  Had my surgery at Centennial and also lead a support group  in Jackson on the 4th Tuesday of the month.  You can contact me at [email protected] if you would like more info.
