I've been reading through materials and I know I need to get liquid calcium citrate and liquid multiviatims, but not sure which ones to get and from where?    There is so much to choose from I'm starting to feel a bit overwhelmed.  I am looking for good, but cheapest if possible.

Thanks!!!!!!

Hi Amy, don't let it overwhelm you. Tropical Oasis makes both a liquid vitamin and calcium citrate., GNC carries both. Look at the paperwork Vanderbilt gave you they have several suggestions and if you buy on line through them its cheaper then direct. Also chewable are OK. C'ya Bob

Amy,
The correct vitamins are one of the most important aspects of staying healthy after WLS, so it is great that you are looking into it now.  I have been using Bariatric Advantage chewable vitamins and calcium since a couple of weeks postop.  I also use their sublingual B-12 and chewable iron.  They will soon be in Kroger stores but I get them off the Internet.  Here is the link: http://www.bariatricadvantage.com/catalog
I signed up for a recurring order since I will need them forever and I don't have to pay shipping.

I am so sorry to keep asking questions, but it seems rather than gettting answers from this TON of paperwork they gave me yesterday at the pre-op appt, I just seem to keep coming up with more.

It says my hosptial stay is 23 hours, but only those staying for 24 hours get a room.  If anyone has done the band in Vandy and know what happens to us with 23 hour stay, could you please let me know?    My Mom is going to stay with me, and I want to make sure she has a comfortable place to stay, if not I'm sending her home.

Thank you for your answers, comments and especially your patience with me!
Amy

Amy, do NOT apologize for asking questions - that's what everyone is here for young lady!  I would call Dr. Richard's staff nurses and ask them about the 23 hour deal, will you have a room, the accomodations for whomever stays with you, etc.  I think you'll be in a room, just not admitted for a longer stay (Probably an insurance issue).

As for the vitamins and supplements, Bob L. and Marilyn have answered that. You can find several sites to purchase these items on-line  (Vanderbilt has an on-line bariatric store) as well as local stores and shops. Talk to your nutritionist at Vandy and she can answer any questions concerning what brands and types of supplements are acceptable.

Good luck to ya with the surgery!

Amy ask away.... Sorry if you took it like I thought you should look it up first, not my intention just want to let you know they provided reference to your question in the pile of material.
It's my understanding that yes you'll be in a room in recovery and treated like out patient. This is usually dictated by insurance but if the doctor feels you need to be kept then they get the approval from your insurance provider and move you to a room. I'm lead to believe this is common practice for lap band. Good Luck C'ya Bob
