Hi, Cindy.  Welcome to the TN board.  I didn't have the lapband procedure, and do not know a lot about it.  But, there are a few folks here who know a lot...  Jenn75, Cheryl come to mind.  Phil is about to have his procedure in the next few weeks.  Perhaps they can offer some assistance.  Or, you may want to go ahead and post your questions or concerns specifically so that they may know where to start and advise.  Hope to keep seeing you here!

Hey Cindy, first let me say Welcome to the board. This is a great place and I'm sure that you will fit right in. One of the first things you need to do is get yourself a avatar, so that we can see who we are talking to, if you need help with that then one of our to go to people is Scott, he will hook you up with getting a pic. The next thing is you need to join in one of our little get togethers that we have on here. There are usually at least two a month, sometimes more, jus****ch the board for information on The Lunch Bunch that is the second Saturday of each month and The Dinner Club that is usually the last Friday of each month, sometimes this one changes, due to payday's, holiday's etc. Like this month, we are having it tonight at Red Robin in Mt. Juliet @ 7:00 we would love to have you come and join us. I don't know what part of town you are in, but both of these events are usually done in different parts of Nashville, so that everyone everytime doesn't have to drive far to make it.

I had my LapBand with Dr. Morton @ Baptist in Aug. 07, since my heaviest I have lost 155lbs with 130lbs of that being since surgery. As Melinda mentioned my DH is having his LapBand on Dec. 03 next month, same doc and hospital. I would highly recommend Baptist to anyone.

Are you just starting looking into LapBand? Have you been to seminar's about it? Do you know what you have to do as far as your Insurance? As far as you being nervous, that is perfectly normal. Like you will read on here, anytype of weight loss surgery is a roller coaster ride for sure, but when it is all over and done with you will see that it was all worth it.

So, just jump right in and ask way, feel free to PM me on here if you want to talk in more detail about anything at all. Hope to see you posting here often.

Cheryl

Hi there! I would be happy to answer any questions or concerns that you have. Just PM them to me or post and I will try my best to answer them.
I had lapband surgery on July 3, 2007 with Dr. Morton at Baptist. I have no regrets at all. As of this morning I have lost a little over 113 pounds. I wish you the best of luck and look forward to hearing from you!

OK, I know I'm going to get flamed for this but here I go.  Don't do it!  I got the band 2 yrs ago and it failed 6 months ago.  Since then I have done more research then I did before I got it.  Now I know the truth about all of the problems that go with the band.  You can expect to lose only about 40% of the weight you want to lose.  And the stats of having to have another surgery for repair or replacement is high.  There are a lot of folks out there that have had the same problems as me and are having revisions.  I found out a few months ago that I have a leak in the port and the tubing and my band is now empty, and I have been having problems with eating.  Today I had an upper GI and found out that I have a serious problem with the band and will need surgery to remove it.  All I have to say is please do your research before you make your decision.  I'm getting a revision to the DS and wish that I had done it the first time.
