Hi there are there an informal support groups that meet in the area?

There is a great support group at St. Francis Hospital.  It meets the 2nd Thursday of ecah month.  Next meeting will be in December and it will be a pot luck (bring a healthy dish) meeting for Christmas.

There is also a small group from the "St. Francis - Dr. Weaver" bunch that meets at Patrick's restaurant on Park Ave. (west a couple of miles from St. Francis Hospital) each Thursday.  I believe they meet around 5:30 - 6:00 pm.  I have not had a chance to go yet as I work 7-3 at St. Francis and I find it really hard to turn around and go back....

I know that there's one in Jackson that is ran by one of my best WLS friends or sisters, as we like to call ourselves,  and I know that she would be thrilled to have you come to her support group meeting.  It's held at:

The Pythian Building
The John A. Roberg Hall - 3rd floor
204 East Main Street
Jackson, TN

Her name is Darlene Hughes, she does read and post on this board, but she has had a sick relative and I didn't know if she would see this to tell you about it. 

They meet the 4th Tuesday of every month at 7PM - 8:30PM and its free to anyone that wants to attend.  If you'd like to email me privately I could give you her phone number and she could call you back about the meeting.
