It seems to me that it is pretty rare for a surgery to end up being open instead of laproscopic.  My surgery was high risk because my bmi was so high.  I had a couple of complications during surgery and it ended up being open.  However, all is fine, the doctor's were great.  It would be pretty unlikely for you to end up with an open surgery.  Congratulations on your surgery date and a speedy recovery!

I know that Dr. Richards was so concerned when he checked. because of all of the prior surgeries that I'd been through and scar tissue. I started out at 326lbs. ,so yea I was big. I did loss before the surgery, that did help the surgery, causing my liver to get smaller so damage wouldn't come to it. I had your same concern, that I was gonna have to have to an open just like you. But when I came out, with faith, and a wonderful surgical team ,and a wonderful support group here  and doing exactly what I was told to do everything went exactly as planned., guess what ,I got my lap RNY and healed within a wonderful small amount of time., the journey as just started. And don't you want to join.? Congrats, have faith that all will be fine.
