It's Just Me!! Updating On Topic and Off Topic---Long Post
Hello OH family! I've been away for a little while and just thought I'd drop in to say hello and give you all an update on me and my life at the moment for those that are wondering.
As some of you know I am back in school, taking my classes online and it's not easy. I hate all of the reading especially for the core course. Anyway, the first week went as I thought it would, my final grade that week was a B, the second week was even better my final grade for that week was an A. I'm supposing that I will keep a nice A average, I'm hoping to anyway. To refresh some memories I'm studying for my legal secretary diploma and I'm considering shooting for paralegal, not sure just yet. I have very little time to lurk around the board these days but I catch up when I can.
On to the post op update, I have seen my dietician and she has now moved me to the regular foods phase, which is still not appealing to me. I've lost about 70 or 71 pounds since surgery for a total loss of about 150 pounds give or take one pound...lol. I'm continuing my walking, I walked over 7,000 steps yesterday morning, it felt good but very painful. So, you want to know why it was painful, well, I had to return to my orthopedic surgeon to try to get some relief and guess what he found, the same thing before surgery, arthritis, and there's also a spur in my left knee as well as neither one of my knee caps being where they should be. As you guys and dolls already know I'm a fighter and determined to keep going, so it hasn't stopped me but I do have to admit that I stay in a lot of pain when I take those 1 hour or so walks. I am in physical therapy to try to strengthen the muscles in my legs in hopes that the knee caps will move at least some, but he says that the closer I get to weighing 180 pounds the less pain he thinks I will have. I'm not making a total big deal out of it but you all know about pain.
I went to see my sweetheart of a surgeon yesterday, yes, Dr. Richards and he is happy with everything. To me he's the head knocker and if he's happy then I'm happy, he did tell me that I have lost a lot of weight from the first time they weighed me and he smiled the whole time, oh he's such a sweetie, I still have to recommend him highly. He said that I have healed very good and I suppose I'm still healing inside but everything is alright.
To fill the one little empty spot on my plate (sarcasm) I am also working on a short booklet to encourage and inspire others that always ask me how I lost the weight before surgery as well as how I stay so disciplined and stick to my new lifestyle. It will be short but no doubt sweet, therefore I will self publish or have my talented cousin do that for me at a fraction of her regular cost. It would be nice to have that done and ready for distribution before or right on my birthday, which is in December. I also have some other things that I am working on. As mentioned before I have a very FULL plate but that's okay because it's all for the better and perhaps it will help others seeking to start the same journey and those that are just curious about my journey, I'm willing to share my experience. This is truly God's plan for me.
Sorry this is so long but I thought I'd give one big update.
Hugs and Kisses,
Diane

Hey Sis! It is really good to hear from you. I am glad that you are doing mostly well... but ouch, that kneecap thing sounds quite painful. I hope that you are able to get that taken care of... you're right. I knew you were a fighter from the moment I first met you on here... give 'em heck! LOL
And just when exactly are you going to be showing us some updated pictures? hmm? I bet you have changed a lot since your last avvie. Take care of yourself... continue to give us updates. As usual, we're just hanging out in the old msg boards and flappin' our jaws away. LOL
Hugs to you.
Hi Diane! It has been a while. It sounds like things are busy busy busy for you. I hate to hear about your knee problems. Ouch! It doesn't seem like you are letting that restrict you. Just make sure you follow Drs orders and don't overdo it. Hopefully, losing all this weight will help with those problems.
I want to see one of those booklets when you get it done! I have a b-day in December too - the 16th. We should party together!! Take care and talk to you soon!
