First, let me say that I in no way take offense to anything anyone has said, and I hope what I am about to say will be taken in the right spirit.  We are not a political group. I am not downplaying the importance of the election, people who know me know I take seriously our rights as Americans.  This election is of huge importance to all Americans.  But, we are a SUPPORT group.  We have just recently had much dissention in our group and a lot of feelings are still raw.  Let's not bring in something else that may cause hurt feelings and distract us from our mission of support. Now, I have had my say, you may vote me off the island if you like!

Marilyn,

That was very well said.  I agree.  I want everyone to remain supportive of one another, cause lord knows we all very much need it...

I thank you for giving us your opinion it is very well spoken. But to stop people from saying whats in their heart is just not what we should be about. This would be like saying that everyone else should stop bringing all their other issues to the table on here. We all have a new life out side of food and we should have a place to discuss these issues if this is a place where only one topic can be discussed then I will bow out gracefully and walk away from here. A support group should be ready to handle and discuss any and all issues. not all issue cause decention a healthy debate should always be welcome thats why we had such a wonderful election last night. SO with my last words spoken here I now walk away, God bless you all and I will check messages from all my friends on my email. I left the RNY page for this very reason, people wanted to choose which topic was acceptable or not. Not a single person should choose what should be said on here, if politics are off limits then so should christmas parties and and craft fairs, as not all people do crafts or celebrate christmas those have nothing to do with WLS. Or if someone is out of work or celebrating a birth of a child  those are not WLS related. SO I will no longer take part in this group if this is how its to be. I am not angry or mad I just choose to be in a place that people are free to speak thats what makes our country so great. Any way enough babbling and good luck to all.

AMEN to that! Republican, Democrat, Libetarians...we are all AMERICANS first! And supporters of one another in our quest to lose weight through our surgeries and to spread the word that WLS works! I'm getting off my soapbox now...a little help? It's a long way down.

We'd never vote you off the island! I hate that my post caused so much nastiness....it wasnt my intent. I simpley wanted to voice my opinion and thought this was a safe place to do so, but apparently all it did was show how mean people can be. I never posted anything personal against anyone but many threw personal attacks back at me. I guess from now on Ill keep my opinions to myself....seems as if youre religious at ALL and God forbid REPUBLICAN...youre the minority anymore :(......

Your post caused so much trouble because you are a racist.  I would say you made a personal attack against the man that was just elected our president, because he is a black man.  You can call it anything you want, but it is a racist remark.  You can backpeddle all you want, & you can't make it go away.  This isn't about religion or politics, but all about you being racist.  Shame on you.

Omg , you can read what you want to into it....but Im not racist and ive made every attempt possible to let that be known. I DONT CARE THAT HE IS BLACK! McCain could have been black and I would hvae voted for him still!  The people who back him and voted for him are the ones turning this into a race issue. How dare you accuse me, someone you dont know at all, of being a racist! Im not racist. Ive dated black men, had/have many black friends, hell one of the reasons I left my huband was because of his backwood racist views always being thrown in my face and derrogatory remarks about black people  constantly being used around my kids by his backwoods family. FOr the last time>>>>IM NOT RACIST.
