Denied a second time
Does anyone have some advice or some info on how to get this darn insurance company to approve me, because it is looking like I am going to have to finance my surgery....arghhhhh!!
They keep denying me saying that I do not have any life threating conditions for them to approve my surgery. What do I have to be dying before they will actually do it. I have problems because of my weight shouldn't that be enough!

IF SO THEY WILL HELP YOU GET REFERED, IF NOT THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS APPLY...SLEEP APNEA, DIABETIES, HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, BMI OF OVER 40 PERCENT OR 100 LBS OVER WEIGHT, OR BMI OF35 WITH LIFE THREATENING (co-morbidities) RESPETORY ISSUES AND SEVERAL OTHERS CHECK OUT THIS WEB SITE...http://www.gastricbypass.com/hemo.htm THEY EXPLAIN THE CO-MORBIDITIES. GOOD LUCK TO YA.
My ins. required 1 yr of documented weight loss, 100 pounds or more overweight, and have conditions that are caused by the obesity such as for myself was asthma, sleep apnea, arthritis, high blood pressure. The insurance will make you jump through hoops. But I will tell you what I did, I called my insurance company before I even went to my dr. about the surgery. I asked them, EXACTLY what do I have to do to get you to approve my surgery? They told me what I needed to provide to them, so I got it all together, took it to my dr. and with his help put it together and on May 5th 2005 I met with the gastric bypass surgeon to talk about me having the surgery....along with me I did bring all paperwork I needed to satisfy the ins. company. My surgeons office put it together and sent it in. Approved 1st time in 3 wks. I had surgery on Aug. 4th 2005.
