Hey everyone,

Our church has an annual Christmas party, and I am wanting to take something WLS friendly.  I don't care if it is a dessert, or an entree, but I need some ideas/recipes that are festive.

Can anyone please give me some help on this?

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Mike,
The place I refer everyone to first is Scott's food blog. It is amazing the resource we have from him and others on this board. Mels site www.recoveringfatty.com also has some good ideas.

Best of luck. It is amazing how we can still participate during the holidays which was a falacy I had going into last years holiday season.

Something that is weight loss friend and packed full of protein is shrimp.  You can get a nice shrimp ring from Kroger.  I would just suggest swapping out the ****tail sauce they provide for a sugar free or low sugar one or check out recipes on line and see if you can make one that is sugar free.  Shrimp is something that can be enjoyed by WLS and non-WLS folks alike.  Good luck.

Since it is Christmas, why not make Linda's Egg Nog (from the www.beforeandafterhelp.com site.)  There are also some really good cookie recipes that would be perfect.

Mike check out Scott's blog, there are several recipes on his blog and if you do not find one that suits your fancy there, he has mutltiple links to many other WLS blogs, right at your fingertips.  However, we have so many Chefs on this site, if you have an idea then I am sure someone can direct you to one of the best ones for you to try and take!!!!

The November 4th support group meeting at Baptist (yes, I know that is election day, vote early!) is going to be all about holiday eating. Paula is going to make some WLS friendly dishes for us to sample and is providing recipes as well.

Hope to see you there.

Hi Susan,

Thank you for the heads up info on the Baptist meeting.  I have not attended one as of yet, but would really like to do so.  What time do the Baptist meetings start on Tuesday nights?

Thanks for the heads up Susan!  I had to miss last month due to football practice for RJ!

Mike, it sounds like a lot of people have given you some great ideas!  I really like Bariatric Eating, they have a wonderful food and recipe database!  Then again, I'm a little proud of the one that I have put together.  Every time someone on the board post a WLS friendly recipe,I get permission to post to my blog.  So, if you find a nice recipe you like, take a picture and send us the recipe!
