Migraines, Stress, School, Work, and Computer Issues
I have had a migrane all week, my medication is not working, I am in severe pain. I know that stress is probably the root to it all, but really not for sure, Beth seems to think that it could be a food allergy, I will be getting with my doctor this week to get to the root of this problem. However, my computer is working half, but my instructor has provided me with an option to take a class extension which would give me until December to complete my class. I did not want to take it, because it will lower my grade by one letter, which would give me a high B, which would lower my GPA some, but not much. I am really considering taking this extension, because I am so stressed and can't focus on my class when I am in so much pain, if you have ever had a migraine try keeping it almost all the time!! Not fun, I am barely able to hold my head up right now from all the pain and this has been this way all week. I know I must finish my school, but I must get my health under control, as well as keep my job, because I have not been able to be at work everyday like I should. Please give me your opinions, they would be much appreciated as I am torn as to what to do, take the extension and get the lower grade, or keep on like I am and possibly get a lower grade from not being able to do quality work!! Help!!!
Do you think that the migraines are the root of all the stress? I know that when I am in pain, everything else seems to compound until I can't take any of it. I would say go to the doctor and try to get to the bottom of those migraines. That is surely no way to live, on pain meds and in bed, stressed to the gills. I didn't think of food allergies, but you know, that makes sense on why it happens so often.
My vote is to get your skinny little butt to the doctor. Since you have been going to the same doctor for this and it is still going on, you might consider going to a different doctor. I know that you want to do the best possible for everything that you do, doesn't matter if it is school, work, the walk, etc. If the instructor is willing to work with you on this and give you more time I say go for it. I know this is not the way that you wanted to do things, but sometimes we have to step back and re-think the whole picture. If you take the extension then you can take your time and get it done and it be up to your standards. Yes you may lose a grade but, I think that is better than keep on going like you are and taking a chance of losing more. Now that is my two cents for whatever it is worth.......lol Give me a hollar if I can do anything to help ya out, we are here for you.

Hey Sweetie,
I am so sorry you are having such a rough time with these migraines. I have had them since I was 14 years old and FINALLY have them pretty much under control. I have had 3 this year, and none last year and the year before. Stress does play a part. First though, are you seeing a neurologist? Since yours are not controlled, I think you need to be with a specialist. Also, a specialist can tell if it is a vascular migraine (the most common type) or a basal migraine (a little more complicated). Some of the things that triggered my migraines were hormonal changes, chocolate, a lot of caffiene, lack of sleep, and bright sunlight, especially flickering though trees while I was riding in a car. The Imitrex never worked for me. The best I can do is try to prevent them. If I get too tired, that is when they show up. I bought really dark sunglasses and never go outside without them-made a huge difference and I started taking estroven way before I needed it for that "age" thing! It helped too! Just some suggestions, but my biggest one is get your butt to a neurologist!

Hey!
Might also try the herb Feverfew. I take it every day and NEVER have them when I'm on it. The only time I've had a migrane in the last 7 years is when I've been off of it for a while.
