Too Thin?????
Try to set mini goals then when you get to what makes you feel the best the work on maintenance I was 276 pounds and 5'8
What I say to you is make sure you are doing whats right for you and nobody else not even your husband cause in the end it is your body and you will be the one living in it. My thought proces is clear out the cob webs before you redecorate, not sure that will make sence to you but you have to find your inner desire and then dont back down down not even to yourself. Family members are the #1 reason for failure (in my opinion) they try to get people to conform to their ideas of how the surgery should happen and what you should look like, I m not saying thats what you are doing but consider your options carefully and the reasons for your decisions and make sure they are your reasons. Good luck to you. Oh to let you know I have lost about 120 LBS and have maintained it for the past 5 months so I am well on my way but try not to loose too much get to your goals and then maintain dont loose too much then try to gain, that will be hard as heck to recover from. Do not look at your surgery as a solution but as an aide to a successful lifestyle, this is not a cure many people gain all the weight back later (if not more). SO research research research.
Well anyway enough preaching Good luck in whatever decision you make this is along journey but so well worth it.
Thanks I take everyones advice I get here to mind and try to work from that I know we are all different and we all have to do what is right for us my DH is very supportive of what I WANT he says he just wants me to be healthy if that is big and healthy he is ok with that to but since I keep haveing the co-morbidies adding up that is no longer an option. I was just concerned because I hear about all the weight people with RYN lose I didn't know if 100+ was always the norm or if it was possible to lose as little as you want Thanks again to everyone!!! You have all been such a great help in my search for answers....
I started out with a bmi of 43 also and am very happy with RNY. I lost all my weight, and yes I was a little on the skinny side... but there are ways to gain some weight if you need to. It's weird to NEED to gain... weird concept even after losing 135 lbs! I hear your concerns, but just continue to research and find the best surgery for you and your needs.
Most people don't have the problem that they can't gain weight. Some don't know what to add into their diet so that they can stop losing. I agree with the person who said to work with your nutritionist. They will be able to tell you what to add to your diet, should you get too thin and can't stop losing weight.
