Has anyone done the nutritional class that Dr. Boyce or any other doctor gives before surgery?

I had to do a nutritional class also at Centennial.  Make sure you ask questions about labels, and how to read them.  This will become valuable information to you throughout the rest of your journey...  forever looking at food labels, how many sugars?  How many carbs?  How many fibers?  How to figure net carbs? How many calories? What about calories from fat? Oh just all sorts of questions...  how to tell if you need that particular sugar alcohol, will it cause gastric distress, just all sort....

I agree with Mel., this is really important part of the journey. Vanderbilt requires at least 6 nutrition appointments 3 pre-op and 3 post op, I learn something each time. I think the more you learn the better questions you have. Just take full advantage of each step of the process! Lets face it if our way worked we wouldn't be in the situation we are? Good Luck and enjoy the journey. I've have to say Vandy was very good about giving handouts on label reading and products. I wish someone would have a protein fair where different manufactures and suppliers would have a day showing their products and different ways of preparations sure be helpful. Good Luck C'ya Bob
