Well me and DH went to the seminar yesterday and I was so excited talked with the insurance lady and she said that BCBS would require that I lose 10% of my weight and I can deal with that, have 5 years of weight history got that, get a letter from my PCP but explained that I don't get along with her since she acted like my fibro was in my head and then had a MRI and found I had DDD and a bulging disc and a ruptured disc that was lying on my root nerve and spinal column but anyway  I do see a team of dr's on a regular basis that includes an OBGYN, Sleep Spec. and Pain Mgt. she said she could except letters from them so she told me I needed to call my insurance and make sure they cover WLS so when I left there I did just that and I was blown away I hadn't called prior cause I knew they did but the lady told me that I had a 250 deductible O.K. but this was the kicked they only pay 50% weather it is in network or out of network and 0 if it is out of state and out of network I told her I had never heard of them paying 50% on anything always 100,90, or 80% but never 50% so when I got home I looked in my book and on the net and see no exclusions on WLS and that they pay 90% on SDS and 90% on hospital stays it did say that you coinsurance on WLS does not go toward your out of pocket and I can deal with that but where did she get this 50%!!!

OK, First let's do what Scott recommends, and breathe!!!   You went to a siminar!  YEAH!  You did it and it wasn't so bad now was it?  you survived and will survive to tell us allabout it when you clam down.  I'm glad you went and got it out of the way.  If you have been on a diet prior to now in the last 1-2 months and heve seen a doc then that should be the beginning of the 6 month diet.  As for the fybro, tell the dr to go f**k a duck!  I ahve fybro and it has not gotten better since surgery.  I still have flare ups and I still hurt.  Actually, since I have lost a lot of padding in my shoulder area, they hurt worse at night.  Talk to your rhumatologist too, they may be able to help with the dr letters.  Good luck and keep us informed and BREATHE!!!!!!

Thanks and I am sorry I am just upset I thought for sure my insurance was going to cover it and still think the lady I spoke with looked at something wrong but will have to wait till monday to talk to a real person LOL I know I can't afford 50% so if that is the case I don't guess I will be getting it.  As far as the fibro I am a great new med no not lyrica but something else still have flare ups but not as many and needless to say I don't see that dr anymore. The good thing is I don't have to do 6 months just lose 10% which for mr will be 23 lbs. Sorry again for the rant

This is whats scaring me about BCBS....my employer, Citi Group, is going to them in Jan...well we can pick from them or Aetna and Ive very little good about Aetna. I have a 200 deductable for family, and was told by BCBS customer service that all their plans cover WLS id medically necessary and they do require the 6 mo diet which im already *trying* to do. But if I have to pay a bunch out of pocket im screwed. Our coverage is *supposed* to be 90/10....but who knows. It ****** me off tho because the united health care I currently have covers WLS 100%. Im SOOOO gonna miss my UHC insurance.
