Just a note to the group.

A few of us that are patients of Dr Virginia McGrath Weaver have begun to have a Memphis night each week and we meet at Patrick's on Park and Mendenhall.

We decided we needed to check in like Nashville does.

Together the 6 of us tonight, tallied our weight loss and we have lost 423.5 pounds since our surgeries.  Feeling really good,

I took a couple of pics at the table but one was too blurred.  We had planned on getting on taken outside...kinda like ya'll do, but didn't get to due to other things going on.

I decided just to put the info on the board...to help promote Memphis.

Scott,..I have one I really would like, it has my son his family on there with me.  I treasure it.  I will see if I can adjust it, if not I will forward.

My Dr. is the same as yours and my surgery date is December 22nd .  I would love to be a part of your Memphis bunch when my surgery is complete.

Please come join us Cathy.   Don't need to "qualify" by having surgery to be with us.  We just need more support then 1x per month...so we meet on the other Thursdays...then the one Dr Weaver has for us.    So, this Thursday, we won't meet, we will be at the big meeting at St. Francis. 

We have found having support more, we are able to help each other, before, during and after the surgery,

I will try to do pics...at the meeting on Thursday of the one's who want in.

Hey that is great Sharon, and get the pics, as as well for the ones that have not had their surgery, don't wait to get together with these folks, join them now, get info from them, find out whatyou can from them. Can you add me to the list???   I am still early in the process and have my first appointment with the Nutritionist on the 23rd!   (Very long wait to get to this point).  It took my Psychologist about 6 weeks to get my Evaluation to Dr. Weaver's office.  Then Dr. Weaver's office said they had a bit of a backlog as far as scheduling goes.  I know their office has had a little turnover (employee wise) so I am not sure if that plays into it or not.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that the rest of this process goes a little quicker and I don't run into Insurance problems.  I read on OH that someone was denied because the past 4 years their BMI wasn't over 40.  If that is the case, then I will be denied too.  Has anyone had a similar problem?  Does the insurance want a long history of being over the 40 BMI limit or are they more concerned with the fact that the weight keeps going up and other dieting options have not worked?  When I spoke with my insurance they made it sound like they were just concerned with the current BMI....hope that is the case.  I have Definity Health right now if anyone has any information....

When you meet at Patricks, what time do you get together?

We meet at 5:00 or 5:30.  We stay until about 6:30 or 7 p.m.  That helps those who can't get their until late.  Most definitely come and join us.

Who did you see as far as a psychologist that took so long to get your evaluation to Dr Weaver?

Just curious.

I saw Dr. Charlotte Kennedy.  I called my insurance company and asked them to recommend someone so I would know they would cover it.  She specializes in Eating Disorders and I was more comfortable talking to a woman. 

She doesn't have office staff, I think she tries to do everything herself and that is what held things up.  I do know I had to keep calling her to get it sent.

Also, the Hospital mailing system is not too great (as I work for St. Francis) and it may have gotten lost or took a while to get to Dr. Weaver's office the week it was finally mailed.

This waiting around just stinks, but I guess it is worth the wait, but I would like to start working on loosing weight, but if I loose too much, then I will not meet the BMI criteria and will be denied.  So I kind of have my hands tied right now.
