Support & Advice for Lookers & Newbies
Research, research, research...and not just from one source. Go to several seminars if there are several surgeons in your area. Get REAL statistics, not what happened to you neighbor's neice's best friend. Do more emotional work pre op than just the psych eval. Be a good boy scout- be prepared!

My advice today is, please come back tomorrow. Hopefully we will be on our best behavior then and not embarrass ourselves. LOL.
Choose the surgery and surgeon that you feel is best for you. But, make sure you have done enough research to make an educated decision. Don't just go on a "feeling".
Get with some folks who are succesful wls patients and find out how they live. Find out what they do, what types of products they use, and learn learn learn all you can.
This is a great topic. It is hard to pick just 1 single piece of advice but if I had to narrow it down I would have to say to be involved in some form of aftercare. This could be an online support group or an active group located throughout the area you live. We are fortunate in Nashville to have a good selection of support groups from the 3 main Centers to the psychological aftercare offered by the Evelyn Frye Center on Wednesdays, Athena at Centennial, or Dr. O'Bryan at Baptist. Surround yourself with support persons who help in holding you accountable. We had surgery on our stomachs not our heads.
