Insured with BCBS of Tennessee...???

My question is about the pre approval with my insurance I have to lose 10% of my body weight which is 31lbs. I've lost 19 but I'm not sure I can get off the rest. Any suggestions what happens if I never lose the 10%?

It really depends on your plan.  I have BCBS of TN and they didn't require me to lose.  I would think based on your co-morbidities you could appeal.

Hi hon!   Keep on tryin'   It will come off!   I had BCBS of TN when i had mine, but my 10% was done thru the use of Byetta.  If you are on any meds for this, this may help.  Good luck, keep us posted.

I am in the pre op stage and had to lose 10% of my weight 29 lbs. I hit that mark so now I have to see my suregon and send everything in for approval with BCBS. I am having surgey at the hospital that I work for and when I called the ins company they told me that if I didn't get the requried weight off first that I would be denied. Yes it is very hard but you can do it this is new for me as well as you but think about after you get the weight off you will feel so much better.

Also in having to lose weight before surgey will help you succeed they want us to learn early how to eat as if you already have the band (hope I am making sense) Just don't give up I am a lurker and don't know anyone on here but feel free to "PM" I know that you can do it stay focused and beleive in yourself. 

I also stay in the Nashville area
