Personal Challenge Accomplished

I am now revealing the fact that I am one serious self challenging individual and thanks to my little tool, I have set some personal fitness goals that I have accomplished.

It all started when I hit that first stall. I was wondering what it was that I personally needed to do more of and it came to me, that for one I wasn't drinking enough
plain water and then the biggie hit me, the mother load of all,  I was not really exercising like I should have been. Yeah I was taking a nice little stroll of about 1,000 steps 6 days a week but that was just 6,000 exercising steps a week and I knew that wasn't amounting to anything for me. So, I decided to challenge myself to see how much total exercise I could get in, in a week. It started out being 19,054 steps and the stall was busted but I wasn't quite satisfied so the following week I aimed for 20,000 even and instead walked 25,099 steps, this week I was determined to walk at least, or try to get as close to 30,000 steps and guess what?! I DID IT!!!!! This week I walked 30,572 exercise steps and all of these steps are in addition to the other steps that are required for the regular activities of daily living. I can't believe it, it makes me feel like a teenager again.

I am now out of the 270's and right inside of the 260's. Not too bad for a woman that has turned into a walking fool.........lol But I just wanted to share
my personal accomplished goals with you all, my OH family and friends.

That's great, Diane.  And once again, I think, ok, maybe I really will be able to do this. You are going to be my example!(no pressure!)  Thank you for sharing.

Erika, you will be able to do this. We are all here to help in any way(s) that we can. I had a lot of veterans that I looked up to that helped me see a light at the end of the tunnel and now I am one of those ,not so old, veterans but I'm here and I have experienced some things for myself firsthand and I am truly honored to be one of your examples. Thank you so very much!

Thank you Beth! I'm a goin'. It takes a lot of discipline for me to get up every morning and make myself go, but as I always say I look to God for my strength.

You're doing great, I wonder how many miles that amounts to!!. Once I get this IV out of me, I plan on getting back into walking again.  I miss it.  Can't do it in the intense heat, but now that it's getting cooler, I want to get back into it so badly.  Hard to walk with an IV hooked up.  LOL  But I think it comes out on Wednesday or Thursday.  Can't even take a shower as the IV is in my med-port in my right shoulder area.  Hard to wrap saran wrap around it.

Hey Kathy! Yes, walking is the great universal exercise and it helps so much. I didn't really walk in the heat but I waited until nighttime to walk. This is the perfect weather to walk in, I guess that's why I'm taking advantage ot the early mornings. I know how you feel when you say that you miss walking, when the weather is rainy I get sad because I don't want to miss a day. I'm glad that your IV comes out so you can begin to get back to basics, you'll be up and going again before you realize it, I just know you will.

Way to go Diane!!!!

Acordding to the info from the "Walking Site"...

How far is 10,000 steps anyway? The average person's stride length is approximately 2.5 feet long. That means it takes just over 2,000 steps to walk one mile, and 10,000 steps is close to 5 miles.

... You walked over 15 miles!!!!  Fantastic, keep up the good work!  You will eventually be walking a marathon  (56,000 steps), which at the rate you are going, will be real soon!
