Trina is back and Thankful...
Thank you Bob L. I appreciate you missing me and keeping my friends updated. When I finally got home and able to check my mail I was a little overwhelmed by the support and wellwishes from my support group buddies. Thank you again for your kindness.
The Galveston area is completly devistated. I have never seen anything like it. Trying to get to my son resulted in many frustrations. Being in Houston when Ike hit was the true meaning of being "Stuck in Texas." Speaking of Stuck in Texas, what a blessing she and her husband truly are. As a matter of fact in addition to helping me she had a total of 10 refugees in her home. In addition almost half of the fugitives also had all their dogs in tow. She provided us a safe haven as the storm hit. We lost power around 1:30 AM when Ike's fury began to emerge. Jim had a generator and for a few days it was necessary to conserve the gas during the day and only run it at night whi*****luded trying to keep the refrigerator and the freezer alternatly running to try to preserve perishables, a window unit for AC that we tried to contain in one room for maximum effeciency, one fan and one lamp. It is amazing how quick you find out where peoples breaking points are when certain luxeries are omited from their days. Things we take for granted such as entering a room and flipping a light switch knowing the light will come on, picking up the cell phone to make a call and having a signal, having a hot cup of coffee or a warm meal that you took out of the microwave or oven.
Right before we lost power I had learned that Texas A&M University Galveston had mandatorily evacuated students and my son had safely gotten off the island. Jacob left with his roommate grabbing only his laptop and a couple of clothing articles and off they headed to a safe location on the other side of San Antonio. When Jacob phoned his dad to ask him what he should do with his vehicle during the evacuation, Kevin advised him to find the highest part of the parking lot at the University and park there, which is a decision his dad would later come to regret.
Meanwhile back at the Ranch... I am now home in Nashville.. I love my support group more than you can imagine... All your text and emails made me realize that Life is good... Please continue to pray for Stuck In Texas, because she still has no power and today is day 13.... She was scheduled for a fill last week but most of you banders know (I am sorry but I am an RNY patient) it is difficult to be on a pureed stage with no power.
Glad you're back safely......."Miss Daisy" had been keeping me updated when she found out where you were.........I'm glad everybody in your family is doing ok and we'll keep all those affected by the hurricane in our prayers.....by the way, give Stuck in Texas a big thanks for taking care of OUR TRINA!!!!!!
