Hey guys/gals,

Im just a couple of weeks away from completing my post-op puree stage and my mind has been racing on my new eating options.

I know my basic "good guys" are chicken and seafood.. was really considering a "celebration" type of event having successfully making the puree journey. Ive listened to folks at our group talk about success at "dining out" and one of the specific conversations that caught my ear was shrimp skewers from Outback. As a newly graduated puree, am i ready to take this on, or should I not cross the street just yet? I am planning to do some basic at home eating at the end of the puree phase before taking this on, but guess im looking for an opinion on a "timeline"..

Did I also mention my wife and I are going to Vegas on the 20th for our ten year wedding anniversary? Lots of tempting foods there that i'll have to regulate.

Glad to hear your getting out of puree, for me it was the worst stage. Be careful eating out I rushed it to Red Lobster and paid the price. I forgot to check fat content, I would suggest google the restaurant and menu ahead of time check the nutritional facts that way you'll limit your surprises. Good Luck C'ya Bob

Hey John!

Congrats on surgery and the fact that you are thinking ahead.  That's the way to be successful.  Just as Bob L. said, take it easy on that new "baby pouch" of yours.  Remember, you probably will not be able to a full portion, so you might try the appetizer menu.

Here are some suggestions, straight from the Outback website:

Appetizers
Grilled Shrimp on the Barbie - Order without butter, Bushman's Toast, and Remoulade sauce. Request with ****tail sauce

Griller's
Order without butter or glaze during preparation.  Order without rice and pineapple. Order steamed broccoli or steamed green beans if your carbohydrate counts allow.

Just remember to take it easy.  My first foray into dining out came with the Lunch Bunch, this way I had some sucessful people right by my side to help me order.

Good Luck!
