Are You Prepared for Winter??

Well we are in the first days of Fall, my favorite time of the year. This is the season that we start thinking about preparing our homes and vehicles for the cold and gloom of winter. So what are you doing to prepare for the physical and emotional gloom and doom of winter??

I think first recognizing the short days and lack of ability to venture out can put us in a funk! How will you alter your day to day efforts to keep from winter depression. Which certainly lends its self to effecting our eating and exercise habits.

I'm not sure if this is just my way of dealing with it or depression in general...but exercise, yoga, bright colors...and a cute man to snuggle up to and watch dvds.

Oh, and I make a mean bowl of chili garunteed to warm anyone up this fall/winter!Oh, and I make a mean bowl of chili garunteed to warm anyone up this fall/winter!

Ron and I and our daughter Erin were just talking about that this morning as well.  We are all going to use the gym more.  Erin might even teach me to ice skate!  We have a rink up at Ober Gatlinburg and locals can ride the tram up for free.  Maybe I will even learn to snowboard!!  And, on days when we are snowed in at the house, I plan to scrapbook and Ron will probably start to remodel some other part of the house, he always does!

I plan to hit the gym a little longer each day.  Also, may get some interior work done in the house. Might even get some paintings done. I've taken several pics of things on the motorcycle rides that would make cool paintings.  Main thing is to stay busy and move!

Yep, I do paint from time to time. Kinda weird - I have to be in a "painting" mood, but sometimes I just can't get into it.  I also draw.

My plan for the winter/colder months is as it was last year..,.... Make use of the gym at work more often.  It is there, open lots of different hours and available before my work day or after.... and of course during.   That is what kept me going last year as I started my journey and lost my 10% for insurance requirement during the winter months.
Great topic and something many need to plan for.......of course, using this board for suggestions, hints and helpers from others also helps.
Everyone should commit to posting on IGOMB postings and make it a goal to move some time everyday.....no matter how small it seems, every little bit helps.

Ah yes winter time! A time to add that layer of fat, lay curled up on the couch watching TV and snacking. Right?
Well that was the old habit and we are all about breaking the bad ones and instilling the good ones! Right!
So that being said recognizing the possible pit fall is half the battle! Communication and Support is another part of the equation, eating right and exercise are the rest.
Thats why we started IDGOMB last winter. Juanita expressed the winter time blues as did others so we thought lets start exercising  and post each day to motivate one another and keep each other accountable! Sherry, gidget, Bama, Maryland and others have really stayed with it. Personally its been a great encouragement for me.
So I'll exercise and eat right and not allow cir****tances to be my excuse to hibernate!
