Not sure what you are asking here. I would venture to say you are just feeling head hunger and the only way to make it go away is (in your mind) to eat.
Not sure what surgery you had, but if you had RNY you are risking some serious health problems to eat something other than liquids before the pouch heals. It may be the same with lapband, but I had RNY so that is the only one I can speak to. Didn't realized you hadn't had surgery, 10 days out from surgery usually implies you have had surgery. This changes my answer, it is normal, you are scared and everyone who has had the surgery has probably felt the same. Just start over again tomorrow and do the best you can, but please don't eat solids for a few days before surgery or it may cause your surgery to be postponed. Good luck to you.
You may just need to have a serious reality check and ask yourself why you had the surgery. You are setting yourself up for failure pretty soon out. I would suggest you get some help now before its too late.
I am not trying to bash you, I have had some pitfalls along the way and I want to save you the heartache of going through what I have. If I can help please let me know.

Sounds like "head hunger" if you ask me. Your sig says you are scheduled for surgery non the 30th of September. What you are feeling is normal.
How many times have you gone on a diet and felt hungry the next day, or even the first day? It's called head hunger.
Work through it with the knowledge that you are going to have surgery. In other words, there is light at the end of the tunnel and it's not a fast approaching train!
Good Luck and keep posting!

Ellen, So you haven't had the surgery yet. Right? I have a lap-band and they didn't make me go on any kind of diet before the surgery. I do know that if you are over 250 or so that some doctors make you go on a diet to lose some fat because they want your liver to shrink so that it won't be in the way. People can have fatty livers and that's a problem. I weighed 255 and I didn't have to diet. Just no food or liquids after midnight. Hope this helps. Good luck with the surgery. Where are you having it done?

Hey- Thanks for the reply. I am having it done at Baptist on the 30th... Dr Spaw is my surgeon. Yeah, I am quite a bit more than 250!
They did say something about a fatty liver and stuff.... I was just wondering but I guess that does make sense. This diet just stinks! I just thought it was their way of preparing me for what will come next!
So when did you have it and how much have you lost- If you dont mind me asking?
Thanks, Ellen

Hey hon, I got creative with my liquids. I had to drink 8 instant breakfast a day. So I put a couple in with my decaf coffee, yummie, instant latte' using the french vanilla. Then I brought the tropical sf popcicles. and whatever I could thank of that was sugar free and alright for me to have legally hehehehe. You know what I mean....... I was full with the brooth and popcicles and latte's and brooth from soups I did fine and support from wonder friends. Barb

Ellen,
I can't wait to see how it goes for you. I was suppose to go to the doctors on Wednesday but they just called and said they have me down for tomorrow morning. Somebody messed up in the office because I know that it was on Wednesday because I have to drive so far to get there and I don't like to get up early if I don't have to. I DON'T DO MORNINGS! The way I see it, I'm older, I don't work, and I can sleep as late as I want. At least that's what I tell my husband. I was wondering where in Tn you live. What's it close to? I'm just outside of Memphis in Somerville.

You are going through the Medabolic Center at Baptist, correct?
If you were to take this question to Paula Duncan the nurse there, she would give you a bad lashing!!
You NEED to follow this diet, because it is to help shrink the liver to make the surgery easier for your surgen and also safer.
Trust me, I was not at all perfect, but I did get back on when I did have something outside of the given diet.
Don't give up and it will be better before you know it!!
Michael.
