Checking In, The Good And The Bad...Long Post

Hello everyone! I'm not gone......no you guys and dolls couldn't get rid of me that easily......lol. I thought I'd check in to let you all know that I'm still holding strong and holding on with a quick update or two.

First ,I hit my first stall and made it out of that and have begun to lose weight again just as before.

Second, I now have normal to very low blood pressure, at times my head gets so light and my vision gets so distorted that I feel as though I'm going to black out. I will be going back to see my PCP next week. The worst part about this is I was still taking my BP medicine and was becoming lightheaded and dizzy and so I stopped taking it and still find myself doing the same thing so this is an issue that I will address with my PCP, the lowest reading I think I've gotten was something like 90/60  and for me that's an all time low, of course I'm staying away from processed foods and try to avoid excess salt any time I can but I'm still going strong.

Third, I accomplished a self challenge, I challenged myself to walking 20,000 steps last week and this week, that's in addition to other steps that are required for everyday activities of daily living. Last week I made it to over 19,000 and this week I will make it over 20,000. I'm thrilled. If someone had told me last year that I would have walked so much in one week I would have laughed in their face and reassured them that they were not talking about me. I would love to increase these steps eventually but if I never do I have made a very self satisfying accomplishment that I will always remember.....yesss!!!

Finally, the bad news, I was trying to take my blood pressure this morning and injured my ear. Please, DON'T EVEN ASK ME HOW. When it happened I couldn't hear quite good, I just knew my ear drum was gone. I hated to do it but I lightly ran a couple of q-tips in my ear to find them saturated with blood, I tried to clean as much of it out as possible. I called the ENT that I've seen in the past and they immediately gave me an appointment this morning, the office wasn't too far from my house so I was able to walk and get in a little exercise. My inner ear canal has been lacerated pretty badly but thank God it didn't make it to my ear drum he said they usually see people in my condition come in with torn ear drums. So, now I will be using ear drops for the next few days and not able to wash my ear or anything. But guess what...........I'm going to make it and I will continue to hang tough and be strong and I hope you all do the same. Bye for now.

So glad you stopped by hon, sorry about the ear  but it does sound like you are on the right track. I quit the table salt, and only use sea salt that  doesn't seem to effect my B/P. And like you I am on meds. mine with the sea salt runs low. So I still enjoy the flavor in my food. But I've never been overly saltly when it comes to adding salt when cook'n. I guess that is why Brian always has a salt shaker next to his chair. HUMMMMM, Hugs sweetie Barb Friends Myspace Comments MyNiceSpace.com

Hey there Ms Barb,

You know how it feels to have the blood pressure run that low, well I suppose all of us that had high blood pressure knows how miserable that feels. I do have the umph to keep going though. Hey that old blood pressure can't get me down or keep me down. Me and the salt don't get along too well anymore besides making me sick as a dog, so I stay away from that and just enjoy what little I can eat as it is.........natural.

Please tell Brian to step away from the salt..............LOL

Hey there Baboo! It had to be something special going on because I was thinking about you and thought that someone was going to put an a.p.b, out on me...........lol. This weekend I will be 2 months postop and am going to take some updated pictures so I will be posting those. I have been getting some outrageous compliments and it does feel good to hear that I look healthy and good, but better than that I feel good. My ear is doing better it has stopped bleeding and my blood pressure is on its own until I see my PCP Wednesday. Getting up to being able to make myself walk that distance every week was a big challenge but I made it, some mornings I would wonder what in the heck I was doing to myself and then I realized that I was trying to benefit my health by exercising. I will let you know when new photos are posted.

Hi Diane, regarding your low blood pressure.  That's normal to me since having my surgery.  Yes I get lightheaded because of it, but I'd rather have it low then high any day.  I don't need anymore health problems.  I have enough for everyone.  I wish I could lose some weight.  Since February I have gained 31 lbs because I wasn't able to work out.  Now I'm no longer in physical therapy and the weight is going back up.  I'm hoping to be able to start walking again soon.  I have even thought about ordering the flirty girls workout disks including the pole dancing.  Looks like fun and maybe I can find a good guy to dance for.  oh la la la.  You're doing great, keep it going.

Hey kathy, good to see you on the board! I came to realize that I'd rather have my blood pressure too low than too high, it's been high enough for 21 years.

You're going to be alright, Kathy, by the grace of God, I just know it.

I found that walking is one of the best exercises that doesn't cost a cent to do. I thought that walking wasn't going to be of too much help for me but I was wrong it seems to have helped me so much. I was given a pedometer as a gift last month and it plays classical music so I listen to it while walking. But, any form of movement that isn't considered sedentary is very beneficial to us. I'm also going to look in to getting me a stepper with the resistance bands on it..........oh man, hey you have an even better idea, with the pole dancing, I'd have a lot of fun with that.

Hugz,
Diane

I haven't been able to work out until now due to having 3 disks in my neck fusioned.  But I was watching the flirty girls ad on TV and it looks like a lot of fun.  I think hubbys would love it if their wives did the flirty girls dances for them.  They're sexy moves and you lose inches and pounds as you're moving every part of you at the same time.  Even using the long feather boa to dance with and a kitchen chair.  hmmmmmmmm

I was just thinking about you and others on Monday!  I'm glad things are going well, except for the ear thing!  It seems my blood pressure has been doing funky things lately also.  It seems low, but my PCP is not really worried, considering how high it was before.

Like I said, glad things are moving in the right direction again.  They stalls can be brutal!

Hang in there!

Hello Scott! See I knew there were some reasons that I just had to post an update. I see I'm not the only one with blood pressure playing "Card Sharks", high or low. I thought about how high my blood pressure used to get and it's just gonna take some adjusting for me, but I'm hanging tight and staying strong. Stalls..........did you say the word stall?! I hate that word.....lol I thought I hated it when a car I was driving stalled but I hate that word even more when it comes to my weight loss.......LOL. I'm a little soldier and hangin' tough!
