My husband whispered this to my son today as we crossed into Cherokee, North Carolina. Cherokee is our local Cherokee Indian reservation and gambling hell. It struck me funny because my son was so incredulous when my husband, jokingly said that to him. We took another day trip over the mountain into Cherokee just to shop and have a change of scenery. I love to go there. It is a lot of fun. We only shopped a little but it was enough to satisfy my need to spend a little money. I came home with a new pair of earrings, some moccasins, and a woven indian blanket. Here are some photos...

These are the comfy moccasins I came home with. I wore them as soon as I got them and they were heavenly.

As you can see, this isn't a very good photo, but the earring are made like fireflies. I love them. The blue in them matched the outfit I wore today. Sorry, I don't have a photo of that.

This is the indian blanket I chose. The last one I had got mouse eaten in storage and we had to toss it. I've been meaning to replace it and so now I have. We usually keep one in the trunk for impromptu picnics and such. Anyway, I like this blue one and so we brought it home.

Dinner was at Outback. I ate a whole plate of Aussie Fries by myself. I thought the potatoes wouldn't be as bad for me as a 16 oz ribeye. Just kidding. Waiting to see if my own personal food police is on patrol. You out there Allen? Have any comments? I actually had Mexican tonight. Like I said before, I am on a diet but not really this week. This week we are on vacation and I am just trying to stay reasonable. Next week will be all business. Dinner was the shrimp and some of the veggies from shrimp fajitas, minus the wraps. I skipped breakfast but lunch was a 6 inch Subway sandwich. No chips and a little light lemonade. No snacking today as we were much too busy. I will be seeing my own personal psychiatrist tomorrow for a much needed refill on my meds. Not good for people like me to be too long without their meds. It is a wonder I haven't gone off on a real spending spree. Then again, it may be because I don't have any money?!? I'm sorry I didn't get any photos of the mountains. We had the camera but just didn't really stop for photos. Dail was in a hurry I guess to get over the mountain. Tomorrow may be a day of swimming and bowling at the community center. The new one in Pigeon Forge is supposed to be great. If we manage to get there I will try to get some photos.

Another day gone.

Blessings,

Sunshine

LOL that is such a "Dad" thing to say!
We are going to try to go to the Smokies over fall break--I like those moccasins!

Erika,
I got them for about $30. Not bad considering I wear a 9. These were not actually made in cherokee. They had those half off at the store we stopped at but these were in my size and I loved them. These are Minnetonke (sp) brand. Hope you make it for a visit. It is a good time to come right now as it isn't too crowded in the area. Things will change come October though.
Blessings,
Karen
