Aetna
I was just wondering if anyone here that has either already had surgery or is approved has Aetna. I was told by Dr. McDowell's office that the RNY is covered and that I had a choice between doing a 6 month program with my PCP or a 3 month program with the Metabolic Surgery Center. Of course I chose the 3 month program, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has been approved this way.
I'm in my 3rd month now, and I want to make sure that I have everything together so that I can have everything submitted by the end of the month. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it, but at the same time I still have a little fear of rejection. I've found myself talking more and more positively though, as in "after surgery I'll be able to do this", and "this will probably be the last time i'll be home preop". Excitement is so much better than worry, so I think I'm going to stick with it! :o)

I have Aetna EPO plan. I have to have a referral from my PCP for everything but gynecologist and chiropractor. It's also a lot cheaper than the PPO. Mine is through my employer which is Harman International. They are a worldwide company so the insurance is very good and reasonably priced. Good luck to you.

I have Aetna insurance also. I did the 3 month program also. When the office submitted my info I had the approval in 6 days. I was also fearful of rejection but I tried to stay positive. I had surgery in January and don't regret one single thing about. Only that I didn't do it 10 years ago. Another good thing is my insurance paid every single dime of the surgery. I was only out $20 for the whole process. Good Luck and stay positive. It'll happen!!!

I have an Aetna HMO through SunTrust bank. I really want to get approved the first time around and have surgery ASAP because on 1/1/09 I'll have different insurance and I don't know if WLS will be covered.
Everything that I'm hearing here is really putting my heart at ease. This site is such a blessing, to be able to have a place to come and talk with people who know exactly what I mean and have "been there done that". Thank you again for the responses!
