Good Morning Holly!

Just like mankind, not all insurance companies are the same.  You just have to check, and check, and check, and not give up!!!!

Both my wife and I had our surgeries done through Centennial.  At the time, my wife had BCBS of Tenn and her surgery was covered.  I had CIGNA through the state, and mine was covered.

Like I said earlier, you just have to check your own insurance company.  Hang in there and have a good day!

Hi Holly,

Did you by chance call and talk to Eloise and ask her which insurance companies work well with Centennial's program?

If you have gone to Centennial's Seminar, the booklet they give you has a listing of several pages of insurance companies.  Each of the requirements for the companies is listed.  Perhaps from that list you can call and talk to them and find a company.

Good luck on your journey.  It is an awesome one, even with the setbacks.

No Ma'ma
I haven't called are went to any seminars yet... I am thinking of going to one next month if I can get someone to go with me..

I am sorry, I guess I shouldn't be asking about insurance until I go to the place first, I was trying to kinda get a jump on things before I go...I know alot of Insurance companys make you wait 12 months for pre-existing conditons... I hope thats not the case... I don't think I can go on like this for another year...

Here lately I have been having chest pains... and fluttering... and that scares me.. so I am kinda in a hurry...

Awww Holly, no need to apologize. Not at all.  I was just trying to think of ways to help you.  And you came to the right place.  All of us have been where you are or will be and you are not asking questions that haven't been asked before.  How would you find out anything if not for asking?

If you are having some immediate issues, ie the chest pains, please call your Primary Care Doctor.  Please don't stress yourself out.  Things will be okay.  And all of us are here to help in any way we can.  There are things that can be done to help with your weight loss and getting you ready to meet any criteria set by insurance companies.

Many of us had to meet certain requirements before approval and hence we can pass along some of the things we did while waiting.

You know, everyone who starts this wonderful journey will soon find out or pass on to others, that the best part of this journey is the support we receive.  Only those who have walked in our shoes understand.  And here on Obesity Help, you will find a safe arena.

Feel free to write me personally, visit my OH site and I would love to have you as a friend.  We will walk this road together.

((hugs))

Hi Holly. It isn't a particular insurance company that covers the surgery but rather the plan you chose. For example, I had surgery covered through Cigna through my job. But my husband had a Cigna plan through his job and it was excluded. So, it isn't the company, it is the plan with the company that is important. I can tell you, before I had an insurance plan that covered it, I looked into all of the companies to try and buy insurance personally without going through my work and I could not find a plan that included the surgery for you to buy personally. I think that most of the time, they only cover it if it is added through the a company  you work for. But I would suggest looking online at Aetna or Cigna or whoever and  then maybe calling a customer service rep and ask them what plan they have that covers it for people to buy personally.
Hope I didn't confuse you. Good luck on your journey to weight loss and better health. I wish you much success.
