First Postop Nutritional Appointment

I had my first appointment with the dietician this morning, right Trina?! Sorry I missed you.

I didn't get to see Jennifer but I did get to see the new dietician, Jessica, we went over the routine business, she told me that I am allowed to have a snack but I don't care for one because I would think that it would lead me right back to the old watering hole I just came from, even if it's a healthy snack. I really don't have the craving to eat during the time between meals and to me that's a good thing. On the other hand I have been so sick trying to eat dairy products, so for now that's out she recommended Lactaid chewables. I can't even drink lactose free milk it makes me so nauseaus. So, soy milk was the choice for me............I'm not so sure about that but hey I'll give anything a try once and if it doesn't agree with me I just don't try it again.

I've lost 32 pounds my first month, she calculated that up to be 20% of the excess weight preoperatively. So, I could lose another 100 pounds and settle for their low goal of 180 pounds for me or I could continue to be the determined little lady that I am and lose to the goal that I want to be at, which is 150 pounds. Either way I am so thankful for this tool it is such a blessing. I now weigh 280 pounds from that long stretch of 396.6 pounds. Wow, yay, go me!!!!

I saw my cousin as well today, he too has had the RNY surgery at Vandy and he is so thrilled with me, we joke with each other all of the time and I really appreciate having a cousin that knows what this journey is all about. I love you Joe!

Great News. Encourage your cousin to jump on the board or maybe he would feel more comfortable on the Men's Forum? C'ya Bob

Thanks Bob! My cousin had his surgery, I think he said in 2001 or 2002 and he's still losing but he stays too busy to even sit down at a computer. Sometimes I think he needs to slow down, but then again maybe not.....lol

Hey Baboo! We're all different and I know that you are doing very good, if you weren't you wouldn't still be encouraged to go on with the journey. I find that I am not able to tolerate a lot of the foods that I used to, nor is food my favorite thing in the world now and I walk 6 days a week, sometimes twice a day. Sometimes I just have so much energy I don't know what to do with it, nothing but walk......lol I'm just one of those extremely determined people to get this job done, just like the rest of us. I can only assume that the weight loss is primarily due to me not being too interested in a lot of food and having a lot of extra energy. But hey, that's what this surgery is all about.........lol, it's a wonderful tool and I love it. Take care and keep up the good work.

Thanks Scott, but you know that you are one of the most inspiring WLS vets on here and I'm just following the leaders. The rain has bombed me out because I can't go walking but I will make up for it.

I'm definately looking forward to entering onderland some day but for now twoterville feels good.
