One Year Surgiversary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well I can’t believe that I started my new life one year ago today with the help of Dr. Morton and his staff at Baptist. My family was so supportive of me I could have not done this if it hadn’t been for them. During this time I also found my OH family, I don’t know what I would have done without all of ya’ll either. You have been there for me before, during, after, good, bad, ugly, etc. You don’t know how much everyone mean’s to me, I will never forget you. I could not have done any of this without both of my family’s. I have had so many up’s and down’s during this and no one has ever made me feel bad about them. I remember the very first Dinner Club that I went to. I was so scared that I would feel out of place or uneasy. I didn’t know what to wear I’m not sure how many times I changed clothes. Phil and I was there I think at least one hour early, because I didn’t want to come in and everyone be there and I be in the “spot light”. I remember telling everyone that I wasn’t much of a talker and the very first person to speak to me told me that she wasn’t going to let me keep my mouth shut that I was going to talk and I was going to enjoy it……lol. You know who you are. The next person I meet was Barb and it was her first time too, so we was the newbies, that didn’t know anyone, that changed real quick, I don’t want to speak for her, but ya’ll made us feel so welcomed and comfortable you have no idea.
So anyway, I just want to say THANK YOU…..THANK YOU… for everything that ya’ll have done for me and Phil. I hope that we have given back in one way or the other to all of you. I know that you will be there for us again when Phil start’s his journey we should have his date sometime after Tuesday.
Not sure how many people know this but when I started my journey back in 2004 when I was told that I had cancer (CANCER FREE NOW) I was at my heaviest at 525lbs I am now at 385lbs so that is 140 lbs with 98lbs of that being since surgery. I know it could be better and it should be, but I think that is pretty darn good and I will take it. Looking forward to continue following all of you thru your journeys and getting to know all the new ones that are coming on board with there’s.
Love ya’ll,
Cheryl
Yeah I kinda figured that you would remeber that nite, we didn't know what the heck we was getting ourselves into for sure. But didn't it all work out wonderful for us? They told us that it would, but did we think it would oh no. Like you said, the others that will follow us will feel the same way and this time we can make them feel good just like everyone made us feel good. Thanks for all of your advice, you have no idea how it has helped me.
Cheryl
Cheryl,
It is amazing what a difference a year makes. I feel blessed to call you my friend. You are an ongoing inspiration for me as you always seem to show such compassion but the greater tool is the compassion I see in yourself now. You are a wonderful person and I am greatful for sharing the journey with you.
Much Love
