Surgery was a success!!

Hey all,  Just wanted to write a notes that the surgery was a success!  Dr George Lynch was great as was the entire Baptist Hospital staff.

I did really good in the OR, and afterwords.  I WANTED to walk after, and they were all suprised.  The only two real issues were that I got nauseous the first night.  Several nurses came in and gave me something, and also turn the air cooler as I was also sweating.

The second was that once my Catheter was remove by Dr's orders, I was not outputting enough urine.  They told me that I needed to produs enough urine in the next 6 hours, or they were going to have to put it back in!!  I told that there was NO WAY that it was going in, as it hurt coming out!

They called Dr Lynch and he had them give me lots of fluids in IV, and about an hour later, I passed the test, no more catheter discussion!!

All in all, I feel really good.  I just got home today and had 2 TBL spoons of cream of wheat with splender and some protein powder.  It was ok.  I made a 4oz shake that I will have in a little while.  I've been getting in my water though!  I've had a 20oz bottle at the hospital and now half through the 23 oz sports bottle now.  If I can get in one more today, that will meet my water requirement.

I can't wait to start loosing.

Once thing to note is that I don't "feel" like I have a tiny stomache, but I also don't want to pu****

Thanks for the support,

Michael.

Congratulations on your surgery.....glad you are feeling well.  Remember to move around slowly, working up to speed, sip, sip, sip and call the doctor/nurse with any questions.
Welcome to the loser's bench.

Hey Mike, glad to hear everything went well...especially the catheter. LOL

You won't feel true hunger or true full for a while. That is why it is so important to measure everything.

Keep sipping your fluids and get up an move around. That is the best way to move the gas out of your system. Take it easy though.

I can tell you that it was a little painful when the catheter was taken out, but the pain went away really fast.. It was more if a sting.  The first 2-3 times that I went to bathroom it stung, but don't let that discourgage you, because that is nothing compaired to them reinserting it!

Drink as much as you can.

But good luck on your surgery!

Welcome home Michael!  Sounds like Nurse Ratchet got a hold of you when removing the Foley!  Sorry about that!  Anyway, I usually make a special gift for people when they have surgery, so here is yours!

May it be a place of comfort after a long day of walking!
May it be a place of rest while sipping on your favorite protein shake!
Most important, may it be splinter free!

Welcome home bud!
