Dr Lynch and Foley Catheter
Hi all.
I am getting ready to have surgery on monday the 18th of Aug (REALLLLY NERVOUS) and I have a question. I have seen places that a catheter is inserted into your bladder for surgery.
I was wondering if Dr Lynch does this for the Gastric Bypass surgery. I am a male and saw a video on youtube of one inserted and the guy that was getting it inserted was moaning in pain!
This is really making me nervous.
If he does do one, is it done while awake or after sedation?
Thanks for any questions that you can answer!
Michael.

Morning Michael and Welcome to the Tennessee Board!
My Doc was David Dyer at Centeniall. So, I can't speak for Dr Lynch. I did have a foley inserted during surgery. Mine was done while I was knocked out. From what I've read, most of the times it is placed right after you have been sedated, so you won't know about. Removal was not a big deal either.
Just take a deep breath and it was over. That is unless you have Nurse Ratchett !!!!!
Don't sweat it man, everything will be allright! Just let us know when you are home and check in often!

I have a some friends who are married and both had Dr. Lynch as their bariatric surgeon. They have been absolutely thrilled with him. Both are a couple of years post op now and have done well.
They both said it was inserted while sedated and not a big deal.
I had Dr. Spaw, and was asleep when it was inserted and it was painless to have it removed, of course I have different plumbing :0)
