My surgery date is 8/26, I didn't think it would come this soon. I am excited and overwhelmed. I have less than 2 weeks to take my supplements. What is the best supplements and what is best for my preparation help. Thanx.

Congrats on getting a date!  Your surgeon and nutritionist should advise you as to what supplements to take and what to do to prepare for the surgery. Give them a call and get their recommendations.

Congrats on getting a date!  The best advice I can give you is to follow what the surgeon and nut say to the letter!  All of us have different surgeons and even though we have similiar surgeries our docs have different protocols.  So, follow yours!  You might want to go to www.bariatriceating.com and order the protein sample pack.  It had individual servings of more than a dozen different types of protein in it.  But, I wouldn't use it until after surgery as your tastebuds will change.  Then, be smarter than me, when you find one you like, write it down. Dumb me, I just used them all and them couldn't remember which ones I liked!LOL.  Looking forward to seeing you on the loser's bench.  Ask any and all questions, and feel free to vent as well!

I agree with Scott, don't forget to breathe!!!

1.  Make a list of things that need to be done before your surgery.  This will help you feel in control as you mark them off.
2.  Purchase a FEW things for when you come home.  This will help you get started with your new diet.  You probably won't feel like going to the store for a while so this will help to already have these things.
            a.  Jello in a cup
            b.  protein shakes
            c.  bullion cubes
            d.  unsweetened applesauce
3.  Take your measurements before you go to the hospital.  This will help you know how well you are doing even when the scales don't move!
4.  Take a picture before going to the hospital so you will have a BEFORE to go with your AFTER

If you do these things that should help keep your mind off of the up coming surgery.  I had my surgery a month ago and I had very little pain from the surgery.  I was however very nauseated and had diarrhea for 48 hours after I got home.  If this happens a Fenegren (?) suppository will help.  This is normal for a lot of people so if it happens to you don't worry, it will pass.

That is awesome news. We go on the 26th for the doc consult for DH and we should have a date for him shortly after that. You being excited and overwhelmed is just a couple of the emotions that you will be feeling and trust me that is normal. Like others have said, talk to your doc and he will tell you all the do's and dont's. As far as preparation, one biggie (at least for me) was to have sugar free popsciles, they will become your best friend at least before and during. Don't go out and buy alot of stuff that you like now, because that will more than likely change again (it did for me).
You might love a certain thing now and after surgery you might not be able to stand it and then later on after surgrey you might get to where you love it again. But this journey can and most likely will be a roller coaster, so just hang on and we will be a scootin over for you on the Loser's Bench. Post often and try to attend one of our events that we have a couple times a month. Jus****ch the board for all the details. Glad to have you here.

Cheryl
