Hi,
Yes, I have BCBS of TN. It is covered on my plan. I was denied because of no medical issues. Although my policy says if you are over 100 lbs (I am) overweight and/or bmi over 40 (I am 48) you don't have to have medical problems. I just got tied of fighting for it. My dr. office at Memphis was no help. Both doctors have left & gone elsewhere. I have thought about trying again using Dr. Virginia Weaver but just don't want to go through the let down again. I lost my 10% & the insurance kept asking for something else. After doing this a yr. they questioned me losing my 10% so quick. By then I had gained all the 10% back so just dropped like the in. wanted me to do. I let it over-take my life & got so depressed trying it wasn't worth it. I decided to be glad I am healthy & didn't have the the medical problems most on this board lived with.

Good luck, Ellen

Hello again Ellen,
I have BCBS of TN and I am no longer 100 pounds over because of the 10% lose. As you can see my bmi is getting lower also. I just hope I don't lose so much I have to gain weight to get approved. I have heard of this happening. This is too hard to get off to have to go thru that. Are you stilling trying to have surgery?

Hey Lisa,
I'm so glad you decide to join us here. I am originally from west TN. My daughters live in Lexington. I live at Aurora KY which is close to Benton. I go thru Paris quite often when I go see my grandbabies. We also seem to share the same last name. Do you have any relatives in the Lexingto area? What doctors are you seeing or are you that far along yet.
My step daughters use to live in Paris and their last name was McDaniel also. PM me and we will talk more.

Just stopping in to say hello.  I am in Memphis, TN.  I am going to Dr. Weaver.  I am still early in the process, so I will let you know how it goes as time passes.

I'm going to get the Lap-Band.  I am short, and my bmi is 41.2.  I am trying not to loose anything right now, because I am afraid that my bmi will go down and I won't get approved.  It is very frustrating because I am so tired of not being able to do things I want to do, or wear things that I want.

Keeping my figers crossed that I won't have to put up a fight with the insurance company.

Hello,
I am in Memphis, TN but have been really busy with college.  Am on a 2 week break so I feel like I can check back in.

I have Dr Virginia McGrath-Weaver for my doctor and she is wonderful.  I had my surgery 3/17/08.  I have BC/BS Federal Employee Plan and my plan approved in right away.  I would take a chance with Dr Weaver's office staff to help get what you need to go thru the surgery.  I see the nutritionist Thursday and I am down 67 lbs and many inches gone.

I feel soooo good.  I can do things I never thought I would.  Like put SUGARY DESSERTS down.  I was a sugar holic.  Boy it is such a relief not to crave it anymore.

Our support group is tomorrow night at St Francis...it is the 5 year anniversary party.,,where those of us who have lost bring in our "big clothes",  I have the fortunate first time to do this.

One year ago this month I was visiting for the first time.  Hadn't made my decision but am so glad I did,  I was first looking at the lapband.,,but changed to the gastric bypass.  I am glad I did that also,

Any more information needed from me please do not hesitate to write,,especially since I am on school break.
