best WLS for fatty liver?
Ooh. Tough question. I know with any of the surgeries that they recommend that you lose 10-20lbs before the surgery to reduce the fatty liver and the risk of it being snipped in surgery, it can cause a lot of bleeding and it's not that easy to manuver around a fatty liver. Just check with the surgeon and see what he suggests.
hey there,
i'm having the DS done on monday with Dr. Spaw. upon examination of me, Dr. Spaw wanted me to go on a diet to shrink my liver. most doctors require this before surgery. My surgery is being done open so that give me more comfort that my liver won't be harmed, however there still is the risk.
as for the surgery that is right for you. no one on here can tell you the best surgery. You have to discuss that with your surgeon. The lapband is a great tool, however if your bmi is significantly high then that might not be the way to go. The rny (gold standard) has shown great results and may be the right one for you. However, that has undesirables as well. And the DS is a good surgery too but unfortunately it does have some side effects that are not desirable. there is also the VSG which is just restriction, no malabsorption. it is the first step to the DS. there have been stories where patients have lost up to 200 pounds on just that.
find a surgeon that you feel comfortable with and do a lot of research. choose the best surgery that you feel inside is for you.
sorry this is so long. good luck.
